I'm content with just a couple of spoons. I understand what you're saying about the ever increasing need for more, and better, and faster, and bigger, but I believe that those are personal choices. My needs are very basic, (at least I think they are.) I can honestly say that I could, and want to, get by with less. I don't have any desire for a big house and a fast expensive car. Naturally, shelter, water, food, clothing are necessities, but we even have choices there. My husband desires the material things in life because he believes that will make him happy. Those things mean nothing to me. I could be just as happy living in a trailer as I could be living in a mansion.
So while I understand what you're saying, it has to be comforting in some way to know that we can choose what it is that we want out of life.
I'll take a kazoo and hearty laughter any day over the Escalade and the Rolex. :-)
