CHAPTER FOUR

HOW IT BECOMES A WAY OF LIFE

DO NOT ASSUME AFTER THE FLESH

Perhaps    the    greatest    hindrance   to    the    effectiveness    of   a    person's    personal    accomplishments is to ASSUME anything by his flesh mind!

Certainly it hinders the ability to work with others, especially with one's God-ordained headships.

The word ASSUME means to take up or adopt, to undertake as a duty, to take something upon themselves without authority, to usurp, or to take for granted. (Funk & Wagnalls)

Most usually it is ASSUMED that the act of ASSUMING is an aggressive act of the will.

Because of this unrealistic ASSUMPTION, each person's attempt to stop ASSUMING is defeated; simply because they are working on the symptom of the cause, rather than the cause itself!

Rather, to ASSUME is a natural result of a preceding aggressive act of the will ...to PRESUME.

In short, we always ASSUME according to what we previously PRESUME!

PRESUME is a word meaning that one has mentally taken up, or adopted something at a time prior to the ASSUMING. (Funk & Wagnalls)

However, one can only PRESUME according to what he has already chosen to CONSUME!

CONSUME is a word meaning something is being taken up or adopted thoroughly, to the point it will no longer exist in its prior state; but will be used up and will be an integral part of the one having taken it up, devoured, used or expended it, i.e.: to eat, to drink, to destroy, etc. (Funk & Wagnalls)

APPLY TO THE GARDEN OF EDEN

In the garden of Eden, man could CONSUME the fruit of all the trees of the garden, including the tree of life; except that God had reserved the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil for Himself; as a willing offering of man to his God and Creator.

As long as man did CONSUME only fruit from the tree of life and the other trees that were freely his, then it was accurate for the man to PRESUME to exercise dominion and authority over all the things of the land, sea, and sky; and it was proper for man to ASSUME the God-ordained position as god of this world.

One naturally follows the other. But man DID disobey God, to obey the woman, and did CONSUME the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

In so doing, he chose to PRESUME from the limited vision of the five senses of the flesh as his source; rejecting the Spirit of God that was in him already as his spirit.

As a result, he naturally did ASSUME the role of the self-defensive, the fearful, the creature, subject to the perceptions of the five senses!

God's Spirit, which had previously been man's spirit, now was removed from man, separating him from the Spirit of Life and leaving him with the spirit of Death.

MAN CAN NOW BE
RE-CREATED IN CHRIST

With every decision of man today, that person makes the same decision the first man did! That decision comes from the CONSUMING of the living Word of God revealed by the Holy Spirit within; or by CONSUMING the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil as perceived by man's past wisdom.

If one CONSUMES God's Word made alive by the Spirit, then it is HOLY to PRESUME the SALVATION of the Christian.

(This salvation is the inward consciousness, the mind, of the person raised by God in the Spirit with the Lord Jesus Christ and seated in heavenly places in God.
See:
Colossians 3:1-3.
This spiritual position is FAR above all things; and the consciousness has been made sinless and righteous before God in Christ; and that person has been made God's heir, a joint-heir with Christ!
See:
Ephesians 1 and 2;
Romans 1 and 2;
Romans 8:12-19.
This proper PRESUMPTION is known scripturally as FAITH!

It is a taking up ahead of time, by the Word of God, that which has been SPOKEN and CONFIRMED by God.

Having CONSUMED and subsequently PRESUMED the Word of God by God's Spirit as one's Spirit, then one naturally ASSUMES his true position and predicament as a son of God!

This is the ninth foundational principle that I brought forth to the Body of Christ several years ago: The Principle of Partaking.

The basic essence of that Principle is that: a person will become whatever he takes part in, be it of God by our Spirit, or of Satan by our flesh mind!

To say it another way: whatever we CONSUME, we will PRESUME; and whatever we CONSUME and PRESUME, we will ASSUME.

Bottom line: whatever we take into our sub-conscious, will come forth into our consciousness as a pre-established judgement (criteria) that will strongly influence the attitude or perception we ASSUME!

If that is the leadership of God through His Word revealed and made alive by the Holy Spirit in us as our spirit, then the faith of God will go forth from us, and we will think, speak, and act as the sons of God we are!

"HE THAT IS NOT WITH ME IS AGAINST ME; AND HE THAT GATHERETH NOT WITH ME, SCATTERETH ABROAD...FOR OUT OF THE ABUNDANCE OF THE HEART (the sub-conscious past mind of carnal understanding) THE MOUTH SPEAKETH.

"A GOOD MAN OUT OF THE GOOD TREASURE OF THE HEART BRINGETH FORTH GOOD THINGS; AND AN EVIL MAN OUT OF THE EVIL TREASURE BRINGETH FORTH EVIL THINGS.

"BUT I SAY UNTO YOU...BY THY WORDS THOU SHALT BE JUSTIFIED, AND BY THY WORDS THOU SHALT BE CONDEMNED."    Matthew 12:30,34b,35,37.

"NO MAN CAN SERVE TWO MASTERS: FOR EITHER HE WILL HATE THE ONE, AND LOVE THE OTHER; OR ELSE HE WILL HOLD TO THE ONE, AND DESPISE THE OTHER. YE CANNOT SERVE GOD AND MAMMON (flesh)."     Matthew 6:24.

"FOR AS HE THINKETH IN HIS HEART, SO IS HE..."     Proverbs 23:7a.

"FOR WHERE YOUR TREASURE IS, THERE WILL YOUR HEART BE ALSO."    Matthew 6:21.
