Our legal and legislative teams have researched this issue thoroughly and have determined very clearly - beyond any question - that the Senate can CHANGE its own internal rules and stop the unconstitutional filibusters that keep these nominees from coming to a full Senate vote ...

Just 51 votes is all it would take to free the superb nominees to the federal bench whose lives and careers have been trapped in limbo, some for YEARS.

* Miguel Estrada, for instance, has a superb judicial record, but after more than 800 days of waiting for a simple vote, he decided he had had enough and withdrew his name from consideration.

* Other nominees like Bill Pryor, Priscilla Owen, Carolyn Kuhl, and Janice Rogers Brown have equally excellent qualifications, but have been on hold for months or, in some cases, years.

THE FILIBUSTERS MUST END. The Senate rules must change. Well-qualified Judges nominated by the President deserve to be voted on according to the Constitution.

Our opposition on this issue is well funded - People For the American Way, for example, is raising and spending MILLIONS to keep the President's nominees from being confirmed.
