Ok, Shellie, since you owned up to it, I’ll give up the recent details of my brush with a Catoosa police officer. I too allowed my car tag to go out of date. But unlike you, I had to pay for it. Guilty as charged, I am now up-to-date and have paid my grievous debt to society.

Since this occurred in Catoosa, the police officer thought it necessary to impound my vehicle, search it thoroughly (I stash my Cheerio’s and odd Lego’s underneath my backseat), and have it towed by a wrecker to a lot three blocks away. When I asked the Johnny-on-the-spot wrecker driver (who appeared in less than 3 minutes after I was pulled over), how much the towing charge was going to be, he told me he did not have a calculator and that he “paid for his @#$%”. I was fortunate not to have my children with me. Of course I told the tobacco chewing officer who looked suspiciously like the wrecker driver, and he told me that he was “gonna have to have a talk with him”, but was going to do it later. After I paid for the $77 tag (we don’t take VISA but we charge more if you pay by personal check/I paid cash), I got to give the wrecker dude $78 (I only take cash) to get my car back, then paid for the $72 fine (we don’t take personal checks or VISA, but will take cash or a money order/I paid cash) and lost a day of work. If every convenience store in town takes VISA and who has ATM machines (that I had to visit three times) why can’t these places?

Again, I was guilty so I’m not whinny about that. But this experience just makes me even more cautious about driving through Catoosa, along with looking forward to when I won’t have to.

Mark,

David is still here in town. I don't remember what he does for a regular job, but I do know he does electrical on the side, when you can get him. He's a member of our church, so I see him frequently. And NO, I haven't told him of that experience we shared. LOL
