From Claremore Progress:

Carol Bryant Kinnear

A graveside memorial service for long-time Claremore educator Carol Bryant Kinnear will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at Woodlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Rice Funeral Service. Carol passed away as a result of a massive stroke on Saturday, June 7, 2003. She was 63.

Born in Claremore on May 15, 1940, Carol’s parents were Leonard and Elsie Kelley Bryant. She was reared and educated in Verdigris and Claremore and graduated from Claremore High School in 1958, where she was voted the most popular girl. Carol and Cleve Kinnear married 43 years ago on Aug. 15, 1959. She continued her education, earning her master’s degree at Northeastern University.

Carol and Cleve were blessed with one child, daughter Lesa. Carol brought many years of service to the Claremore public school system. She had an impact for good in the lives of many as a teacher, counselor and assistant principal. Following her retirement, Carol had more time for her favorite hobbies of antiquing, flea marketing and decorating and enjoying her home. Her greatest treasure was her adored grandchildren. She eagerly anticipated and planned for their frequent visits.

Giving and nurturing in her roles of wife, mother, sister and friend, Carol was loved by many, but none more than her beloved family. She is survived by her husband, Cleve Kinnear of Claremore; daughter, Dr. Lesa Kinnear Weber and her husband, Jeff, of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Alexandra and Parker Weber, also of San Antonio; sister, Lynne Fry of Claremore; brother, Michael Bryant and wife, Gloria, of Pocola; nephew, Dr. M. Allen Fry and wife, Dr. Jennifer Brokaw, of San Francisco, Calif.; niece, Jennifer Simpson and husband, Mike, of Tulsa; great-nieces, Claire and Meredith Fry, and great-nephew, Jacob Avery Simpson. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Bryant.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Carol’s behalf be made to cancer research.
