Subject: BABY WHALE NEEDS OUR HELP!

Hello everyone; I am writing to you as fellow animal lovers, to let you know about a very sad situation involving a lost little orca ('killer') whale named Luna, and what you can do to help him.

Three years ago, Luna became separated from his family. Since that time, he has been living all alone in the waters off Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada. Each day he remains, he suffers extreme loneliness, as orcas are highly social creatures. He also faces danger and possibly death, as there are several reports of people striking him with objects and hitting him with their boats!

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans attempted to reunite him with his family this summer but were interfered with by a local First Nations group who feel a spiritual connection to him. Luna is now caught in a tug of war, so to speak, between these two groups, and is in danger of missing the chance to be reunited with his family this year (as they will be leaving the area in December, not to return for another year).

The population of orcas in this area is seriously endangered; their numbers have dropped from hundreds a few decades ago, to only 76 now. This group cannot afford to lose Luna!

Below is an address where you can sign a petition, urging the DFO and FN's to put aside their own agendas and work together to reunite Luna with his family as soon as possible. Many people involved with Luna's situations do not believe he has much chance of surviving where he is for another year. To add your name to this petition and to read more about Luna, please go to...

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND CONCERN!!! :)
