Subject: PSD draft chat

This kind of work for the nat draft so we'll let one run again.

Gotta say I had no idea on this pick, it is a mixed bag. I was hoping Bentinck would fall but prob a pipedream.

Needed a defender and it was down to Thursfield or Egan, I'm hoping the former will have more attacking upside and therefore ability to score, but it was a fairly quick decision.

1st round looks fairly straight fwd, but come the 3rd it will be like trying to find a needle in the haystack

As I thought he went early.

Also, very interesting that Out of my top 10, 7 out of eight have been picked.

As a result ended up trading away the pick to get a Ruck in G.Richards in case Gardiner doesnt come up.Also want to try & use Kos as a floating KP plugging holes rather than as a Ruck.

Be curious to see if Walt had them in that exact order. If so whoops lol.

But Crowley was next (toss up between him and Peake, Peake has potential I think), then Foley and Pearce. So my top bag went straight away.

Interested to know what others think of Peake.

Pretty much had em Bentick,Peake,Crowley & Pearce in order for a long time but then started to switch around the latter 3.

The Brians midfield now looks strong with Murphy,Thomas,Bentick & Peake added to the mix.Add that to a powerful forward line & they are back in the hunt.

He chose Egan, but knowing you were intyerested, makes him feel he did the right thing picking him.
School finished at 3;00 and his first question was, is it my pick yet?

Maxwell

[> [> Yuh, I've really got no idea so I wouldn't be pinning too much on my knowledge -- Howie, 14/12/05 2:45:23pm [1]

Was Thursfield in your 7 or 8 - if he was, who wasn't? If you don't mind revealing the trade secrets.

Actually had Egan in the draft last year but dumped him, I don't need no ol' defensive hack on my list. Just another stoopid move by management, up on the wall with Shane Tuck's dumping.

On the plus side, training Luke Penny to Coleberg for Ryan Griffen is looking like a masterstroke and similarly Daniel Jackson to the old Swans owner for Steven Johnson has worked for me so far.

On the plus side, TRADING Luke Penny to Coleberg for Ryan Griffen is looking like a masterstroke and similarly Daniel Jackson to the old Swans owner for Steven Johnson has worked for me so far.

Sometimes my brain just picks words that sound the same and figures they'll do, like training instead of trading. The fact that it completely shags the sentence doesn't seem to come into it.

Tim Boyle that is.

Agonising wait as i had him at # 1 on my "talls" list.
Tried to upgrade pick 16 in a few trades (failed) & would have used any pick from 5 upwards to nab him.

Hope he can stay fit, showed plenty in his 2 full games this year.

Between Boyle & Davidson: 7 years - 3 games. It can only get better.

Surprised O'Brien lasted so long, long term should be a great get for Bitchmond.

[> [> Had me eye on Skipper after Young -- Howie, 15/12/05 10:07:25am [1]

But I pretty sure hoping he'd slip to the third round was a bit of dreamin'.

High hopes on Young though, a little surprised to see him slip through. All things being equal, prob should have taken him ahead of Thursfield, though grabbing a defender was my priority. I'm just too thin back there and if i didn't I'd be hinging on "against the spirit of the game" cheating (playing mids in defensive posts).

Had Thursfield fairly high up but slipped him down a few notches because Tom Williams according to Welfare fans is ready to play as a KP defender.

Also have M.Bate who according to Dreamon fans should play a few games as well. Not sure if he will be a KP defender or forward.

[> This is like a LOTTERY. -- Maxwell, 15/12/05 12:47:18pm [1]

Gee this is like a guess/lottery.

After the first 8 or so,all players will be speculative picks.
There will be a few that may become big point scorers and that could be anyone.
One coaches good catch is another one's not interested.

Luckily I have my squad already.
Just giving Libba a hand to complete his.

Very happy to get Malceski
Best on ground for Swans Reserves in the Grand Final in the Canberra comp. 22 possessions.
Was picked on the wing in the Canberra team of the year.
Only problem is a Knee Reco in 2004.
Hopefully after a great 2005 will get more opportunities with Swan's Firsts in 2006.

Max
