I'm just saying that if the main character has a job, it should be a fairly integral part of the show. On "Seinfeld," Jerry was a comedian and George, when he worked, was with the New York Yankees organization, and each character's profession was quite important to the show and their storylines. Al Bundy was a miserable women's shoe salesman, and he let us know about it. Even on "Futurama," Fry worked for a shipping company.

There is no reason to delve into Randy Marsh's career on "South Park" because he is not the main character, although his role has increased significantly over the past three seasons. Homer Simpson, however, supports a family seemingly without a source of income.
