Subject: Here is my View

Ok here is my view on why there should have been an audit, I think that it would have definetly been in the best interest of the taxpayers to have some kind of idea where some of the money has gone and who was responsible for it. If you are going to raise taxes and ask employees to give up certain benefits without doing so yourself, you should show some kind of concern of where all this money has gone and give some kind of reassurance that it won't happen again. It sure makes the people in charge look like they have something to hide, especially since they were a part of the last administration and kept a few of MCG's right hand employees on staff, including the head honcho of finances. What in the world happened to the state coming in and doing some checking, I personally heard this out of the mouths of a few council members after the primary. All and all it is politics as usual in Wilkes-Barre and the sad thing is I doubt it will change for the better, the very sad thing is the public's safety is now jeopardized and the firemen's morale has just gone down to about -100 especially from what they had to put up with eight years prior to this. I think a wise idea would be to have maybe a few council members or even the mayor himself maybe go on some ride alongs/calls with the fire department, maybe then when they have a first hand look to what they are subjected to day in and day out they will have a better understanding of what they go through and why they are feeling so betrayed be an administration they stuck their necks out for.
