Subject: removing red tones

Last night I applied Clairol Ultress Medium Ash Blonde 7A to my (dyed) light auburn hair hoping to remove the red tones. Despite using an "ash" color as advised, its now just a lighter shade of auburn.

Is completely removing the color and then re-dyeing my only option? Is their any product that just removes the red tone?
