Subject: My haircolor is blotchy

3 months ago I had highlights put in my medium golden brown hair. They looked good but I cannot afford to get them redone so I died over them with a light reddish brown color. It was too red in some spots and did not color in others. So I bought a medium golden brown color and died over it. It is pretty dark and very blotchy. They are dark reddish streaks and then a more normal brown. I just wanted a normal brown color. Will the red fade? I cannot afford to go to a professional. Any advice?
