Go get a demipermanent color with a red base (provided it's exceptionally green...if it's a little green, start with a brown blue/violet base and work your way to red should the green still be present) to it at a beauty supply store. Ask someone you trust with good vision and/or the store clerk whether your hair seems really green or just a little green. If it's a little green, start with a neutral/blue-violet base. Ash is green and will turn so when put on a color that does not have a red base (don't confuse this with yellow). Select a color with a swatch that is at least one to two shades lighter than the color of the color swatch that looks like the color you want (the color swatch is done on colorless white hair and so the color is almost always going to come out darker and slightly different than the swatch). Try on a one-to-two inch section of hair in the back (clip the section separately and tie the rest of the hair back; separate the section from the rest of the hair when working on the rest of the hair later). See how long it takes to get your ideal tone (and if you like the outcome of the swatch) and then process the rest of your hair the same time as the test patch you did (provided you liked the outcome of the test patch).
