I did that once... i actually grabbed the wrong box, oops. What I did was buy a kit that removes hair dye, there's a few different kinds out there. It'll take the black out, and probably leave it a really strange color. But then it's ready to put the dark brown in (which was what I was going for at the time). It'll probably soak up the dye really well, so it may turn out a bit darker than it should, but it will fade back to what it should be at pretty quickly. If you use a color remover, it's harsh on your hair, so condition it really well afterward. This isn't the same as bleaching your hair, which I would consider even harsher. If you dye your hair dark brown after dyeing it black, it won't lighten your hair at all. Assuming you used permanent hair dye, once it's black, it's black until you remove it with either bleach or a hair dye remover.
