Hi all this is a really neat page. Names from 50 years ago. I had forgotten my mother was insistent on using my second name back then Norine. Ahhh now maybe a few will remember. I lived at 365 Parliament St across from Lord Dufferin School. Why did they tear it down? I was totally shocked when we went driving by. I can't say I disagree with tearing down Regent Park but LDS I can't fathom. Now I am wondering about other folks from the building from 1958 to 1968 when I left. I will start at the main floor and work my way to the sixth floor, please forgive my spelling. Munroe Heather,Danny, Rhonda....,Therman Mark, Wendy, Gary, Vaughn..., Terriff Mike,Meridith,Tom... Coberson Rob..,Wellens Ken..,Buckingham Doug.., Prontack Susan, Mike, Steve, Mark, Kimberly...,Neilsen Diane,Randy..., Flavel Marleen & brother. Well I guess thats all that I remember. Bye Maggie B

- Hi fellow cabbagetowners! -- Jimmy Laughlin, 07:31:13 03/27/07 Tue [8]
Wow, what a great forum. My family (Lynda, me, Stephen, Patsy, Bernie, Tom and Veronica - Jim & Olive parents) lived at 463 Gerrard from 1950 to 1957. Sibs all still kickin' and parents both gone. Some people I remember from that building and the house next door were Carla McNeil, Sheila Mike and Johnny Roscoe, Wayne and Blayne, Frankie and Hughie Simpson. We moved to a house at 363 Gerrard in 57 and the family was there until the late 70s. It was across the street from Walters Snackbar and Roy's Grocery. Blake's Variety was on the other corner (I think the McNultys lived upstairs). Remember the Sip&Bite on Parliament, the Male Shop and the ParG pool hall? Others that lived in those houses at Sackville and Gerrard were the Munros (Sharon -my first wife, Ricky, Brenda, Bob), Wayne and Cliff Barker, Robert Holland, Willy Springit, the Chattans and so many more (I'm brutal remembering names unless I hear them - but never forget a face). I went to St Martins school, played hockey for Lourdes and hung around with Les Morgan, Wayne & Cliff Barker, Marty Collins and Steve and Roman Mill. Spent lots of time at the K Club (our banquet team was the Silver Darts). I knew lots of others like Ernie & Bonnie McMaster, Donna McFarlane, Stevoreno?, Joey & Scrappy Scott, Joey Kelly and the twins Linda and Marlene?, the Komskys from S Regent, Gary Eastwick, Dougie Mc? from 407 Gerrard, and I guess I could go on and on. Just wanted to say hello to all and it would be nice to hear from any of you. It was great growing up in Cabbagetown and I wouldn't change it for the world! A special hello to Carla. Apologies to the many I knew and did not mention. Maybe y'all could remind me:>)

- Park Public School Class Pictures from 1944 to 1951 -- Donna, 11:49:25 03/01/07 Thu [9]
Hello Everyone:
I'm hoping that someone who went to Park Public School in the early 40's to 50's might have some class pictures to share. I have been looking for one with my Uncle my mom's brother in it he was 10 when he was a student at Park Public School and was killed by a car while playing ball with his friends whose names were Leslie and Jimmy Barnett their pictures were posted in the Toronto Star with the story about the accident. The accident took place in Jan 1951 around Sutton Avenue in Cabbagetown. Actually I would love to see any class pictures from that time since my mother had several brothers and sisters all close in age. I have got one boy's team picture from 1954 its a team champions Football team picture and I would be willing to share with anyone who would like it. Thank you for your help. Donna

Hi Every One Hope every one is enjoying the laughs much like I did today,,, I almost peed my knickers when I read about Mr Lowdy and how he treated the kids the SFE (strap), I let friends at work read it and they all roared with laughter,, God if you do that now the school board would be in so much trouble... anyways someone ask about Ms Hunt I remember she lived near the Zoo and she was a rather tall thin lady with a hunch back, I am not sure what class she taught,,, But who was the Art Teacher I remember her a little she was certainly out there... I had Mrs Patterson in Kindergarden LD School, Ms. Clark , Mr Mittoff, Mr Macdonald, the rude gym teacher and those horribale gym outfits,,, and she wanted white white sparkling running shoes,,, heck I was lucky to own shoes let alone the colour... and she would make us sit and walk up and inspected us as if we were in the Military, she had short blonde hair and attitute,, and the French Teacher she was a cutie can not remember her name... oh I am sure when were all together we will remember even more... Hawkeye you have a great memory wow,,,, I'am impressed. So lets see who can remember the Art Teacher,, big hats and makeup and always sort of flighty.. Take good careLynda St.Louis (Maracle is my name now)

Hi Penny:
I sent a message weeks ago and have not heard anything from you so thought I might try again. I do remember you as I went to your bathhouse for my weekly bath, Saturday afternoons, and also had a few sleepovers at your place upstairs. For your age, you were very considerate. I won't go into why here but I always remembered a certain time. If you would like to email me, I would look forward to it. Hope all is well with you, sounds like you are living a good life in California. Take care.

- Looking for old friends -- Sue (Gleeson) Lowther (What a trip down memory lane!), 17:18:49 09/10/07 Mon [2]
Hi all
I lived at 441 Sackville Street at the corner of Salisbury from 1945 to about 1956 and went to St. Martin's school. I remember Anita Kelly from St. Martin's. Most of my friends from that neighbourhood went to Winchester School, Linda and Wanda Williams, Patsy Patterson. We moved to 274 Sackville and was there until 1965. I am hoping to connect with Kathy Groves and Carol Glover who I believe married Michael Lyons. I have an older sister Liz, who some might remember as well. I would love to hear from friends from the old neighbourhoods.

Hello everybody. It is so nice to see postings from so many long lost friends. Most of my family is planning to come. Unfortunately my dad (Ron Horniblow) is not doing well health wise and will not be able to attend. I know if he could he would.
I know my mom (June) will be there and I'm certain that my brother Mike will be going. Can't speak for the rest of my siblings but I'm pretty sure I will be there. I orginally was going to pass but as I visit this website it reminds me of my past and where I came from and I won't miss this.
See all of you soon. How do I get a ticket?

just a helloooo down memory lane.i lived in regent park from 64 to 78 . when all is said and done, i have absolutely no regrets( oh and no choice as well LOL). it was an era that is sadly long gone from today. we may have been brought up "economically challenged" LOL but there were many values instilled in us that i carry today and am the better person for it i'm sure the others that read this feel the same. my parents dorothy and paul mccrossin lived in a few places,347 parliament,321 sackville st. (house) and gerrard and parliament st. its strange to see the neighbourhood now, flat as a pancake from dundas to oak and parliament to sackville (WOW) lots of memories buried in there. just wanted to say hi if anyone recalls my brothers and sisters david, bobby, nancy, janet, or myself paul drop a line if you like we all went to st. martins on winchester as well.mother st. maurice and mrs. daniels ring any body's bells?. take care and have a wonderful year.

Hi I lived on Traffan St. and went to Saint Pauls School and church. Does any remembe the Cadieux family. I was friends with the Smith's, Robinson's, Schram's, and there are names I can't seem to remember I know that back in those days everyone that lived on the street seemed to be friends with each other, it was a very small street. I would also liked to know were the farewell party is being held as I am married to a park school boy. We would be interested in going to the party. My husbands brother Ron and his wife also a cabbagetown girl would like attend. We would be happy to hear from anyone.
Sandra
