We are a small husband and wife computer repair shop inundated with PC
repairs removing spyware. We stumbled upon a real stumper this past
week.

We had a PC with a desktop webpage hijacker? or spyware that hooked to
the desktop. It was a large black background ad with the message
"Your PC is in danger!" on it. The only way we could describe it is
to call it extortionware because it said the only way to get rid of it
was to got to the website and pay $29.99 to them and they will remove
the ad. This one is a real s.o.b.. We have tried everything from
Spybot to Adware to PC Magazine's weekly scans using SpySweeper and
Intermute's SpySubtract to no avail.

The only thing we can think of to do is to do a OS reload with data
save.

Has anyone seen this before and if so, how did you remove it?

Thanks so much,

Shawn and Jay from CT
