Bank warns of internet scam

Mar 26, 2004

The ANZ bank is reiterating a warning to customers who do their banking over the internet not to be fooled by an scam run by fraudsters trying to gain access to people's accounts.

The scheme involves an email that claims to have come from the ANZ, which trys to trick recipients into going to a fake website and entering their registration and password.

Various versions of the scam have been used to target a number of banks, including the ANZ and Westpac, over the past year.

The ANZ says its electronic fraud team is looking into the lastest email and trying to trace where it is coming from.
