Yahoo! Dances The Fandango
Yahoo! said it has partnered with Fandango, the online and telephone movie ticketing and information service to offer the company's services on its popular Yahoo! Movies channel. Fandango reaches nearly 70 percent of movie theaters that are wired for online ticketing. Yahoo! plans to integrate Fandango into Yahoo! Movies where Web surfers will be able to access movie trailers, view credits and actor trivia and chat about films. Market researcher NRG reports that 40% of moviegoers who attend a movie on its opening weekend say that they decided to because of Web promotion. Yahoo! Movies racked up 8.5 million unique monthly visitors in December, according to Nielsen/NetRatings. Yahoo! also has a ticketing relationship with MovieTickets.com.
