One of the bright spots of 2003 was the success of 14-year-old Sarah
Geronimo and the popularity of reality-based talent shows on
television. We had game shows in 2002. We had the made-over amateur
contest last year. Sarah was the million-peso winner of the Star for
a Night on IBC-13. She zoomed to the top with her version of Celine
Dion's To Love You More. She followed this up with an even bigger
seller, the Vehnee Saturno original Forever's Not Enough from her
debut album.

Truth to tell, Sarah was the only singer who gave F4 stiff
competition in the charts. As a result, there are now several talent
shows in search of another Sarah on TV, radio, the malls and the
fiesta stage shows. Take note again, this is also a worldwide
phenomenon as among the major events of the past year in the US and
the UK was the popularity of shows like American Idol and Pop Idol
and their subsequent winners.
