Variety Online reports an "insider" on the production staff at LWB hints at the new direction for next season:

"Among the changes, Bonnie's husband will ask for a separation and leave the series, presumably freeing actor Mark Derwin to return to daytime television. David Alan Grier's character will return to his new home (burned down accidentally by Bonnie this season), but will experience a concussion when a wood girder falls on his head (installed by an inept carpenter played by co-creator Don Lake). Grier is expected to be in a coma for the first half of the season, not appearing in those episodes, freeing him for feature films and stand-up, and perhaps not returning for the season. Red-headed son Charlie (Charlie Stewart) will enroll in military school in the premiere episode next fall, leaving Bonnie to dote over a remaining infant, who may also be dropped. Joining the cast will be Jumanji co-star Bebe Neuwerth as Bonnie's sister, who convinces Bonnie to take a well-deserved vacation to Disney World where she will strike up a new romance with an actor playing Goofy (Rob Reiner, whose father Carl has a recurring role). Says Hunt, 'Although the network [ABC] forced our hand on some of these changes, Don and I feel they can work. One problem, of course, is dealing with the expectations of our fans who may not recognize this is an April Fool's Day joke from Eric.'"
