While I'm on the Board I thought I'd make a couple comments concerning the class. Although my words won't apply to everyone, I decided to air my thoughts to all.

First, on the whole the class has been very very gracious to me...knowing the circumstances of just arriving in IF, etc. I want to thank you for being so understanding of this situation. Hopefully, the second half of the semester will go smoother for me and thus, for you.

Second, I'm concerned about attendance. Yes, I know illness is everywhere and some of you have parenting responsibilities and have to miss or leave early. I have no problem with these kinds of situations. However, there are times when attendance is down which aren't connected with illness, etc. This is especially true when we take a break...some just leave. I'm not always sure why, but for some the desire to leave is apparently hard to overcome. Yet, I'd like to remind you that the class goes until 7:30 and you are expected to return after the break. Hey, I know it's "your money" and you're free to attend or not, but a fuller class makes for a better session, most of the time. If this applies to you, please try to do better at attending and staying.

The last minor issue is turning in assignments on time...most are good at this...some are terrible. Remember, you have your "extension" to use, but what I'd really like is to hear from you if you're having a problem.

Ok, got this stuff off my chest, so I'll get back to those MT's now.

Do some reading in the text and AE reader...we've got lots to cover yet and I'd appreciate a more widespread effort to be prepared when you come to class. Again, I've noticed some who are, indeed, "current" when we're in class, but others...it seems...find reading chapters and articles before (if ever) class is a foreign idea!! Make it a "domestic" one, ok?
