Hi everyone! Ashley is being transferred to Scottish Rite hospital in Atlanta. They beleive they will be able to help her better there. Her Mom says she is in very severe pain in her back and neck and to please pry for this to subside soon. She is also still paralyzed. Sometimes she cannot even drink from a straw. She is in pretty good spirits and everyone is positive about her progress. Please keep praying. We will be getting an address and asking everyone to send her cards. She is missing her friends terribly and even begged the doctors to let her continue her treatments and rehab in Albany! I will post the address as soon as I have it!

Ashley has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barrι (Ghee-yan Bah-ray) Syndrome. In short it is an inflammatory disorder of the peripheral nerves - those outside the brain and spinal cord. It is characterized by the rapid onset of weakness and, often, paralysis of the legs, arms, breathing muscles and face. Although many cases are mild, some patients are virtually paralyzed. (Ashley is paralyzed from the waist down at this time) Breathing muscles may be so weakened that a machine is required to keep the patient alive. (She has had trouble breathing but is not yet on a machine) Many patients require an intensive care unit during the early course of their illness, especially if support of breathing with a machine is required. Although most people recover, the length of the illness is unpredictable and often months of hospital care are required. The majority of patients eventually return to a normal or near normal lifestyle, but many endure a protracted recovery and some remain wheelchair-bound indefinetly. The cause of GBS is not known and there is no effective treatment. You can go to http://www.guillain-barre.com/overview.html for more in depth info.

Doctors are treating her with known treatments at this time. Right now it is a waiting game. PLEASE PRAY!

Please pray for Ashley Burt. She is being rushed to Egleston hospital today (Thur 9/9) by ambulance. She was losing the feeling in her hands and feet and vomiting. They do not know what is wrong (possibly cheer injury related or menengitis?) but they beleive it is serious enough to send her to Egleston in Atlanta. I will post more as I find out more!

The Miss Southern Starlet Pageant will be held Sat. August 7th at 4p.m. in the Enigma City Gym in Enigma, GA. We will have beauty, photogenic and prettiest dress, hair, eyes, smile and daycare/school wear. Beauty is $50 and optionals are $10 each or if you enter by July 14th you can enter everything for $95!
Age divisions are:
Baby 0-23 months Junior Miss 10-12 years
Teeny 2-4 years Teen Miss 13-15 years

And she also booked a NATIONAL COMMERCIAL for UNITED WAY with Marshall Faulk: The NFL's #1 running back. The commercial will begin airing during pre-season. Hey! I know I have cross posted this, but I wanted to mention this on some of the boards I commonly visit. I just had some of my daughter's new pageant headshots retouched by this company who did a great job. http://vipdigital.s5.com the prices are incredibly low ($15) compared to the outrageous amount I had to pay last time at a diffent place. The quality of vipdigital is as high if not better then the expensive place. I just thought I'd pass the word along, and act soon because I think the low prices are only for a limited time!

I could not believe that Australia won over USA.
Miss USA had so much personality on stage and she also answered her on-stage question better than Miss Australia who I thought stubbled quite a bit!

There were over 40 beautiful contestants! Thank you parents for being so patient! Each contestant received a two minute consultation with the judges after crowning. I think that, along with the interview tape each Teen and Miss received, will benefit and aide these contestants in their future pageants. I had the best time with the little girls in Camp that morning. They were all so sweet!! Thank you to our judges for the 0-12 year old group: Kay, Carol and Patricia. I know you had a long drive back to Alabama! We appreciate your honesty and integrity. Thank you also to Nancy and Nikki. You were wonderful.

A special thank you to Tina Guess, Melyssa Waites, Joy McCalla, Marie Browning-Joiner, Amber Cooper, Perry Smith, Melissa C., Candi Ganas, Susan Byington, Sandra Surrency, Beth Peagler, Alison Jones, Tracy Jones, Hali Guess, Haley Waites, and my wonderful and patient husband: Aaron. I have extended the deadline to enter miss north georgia by one week. the new deadline is april 24th enter today at www.patnee.com or call me at 706 965-9945. our numbers are low in all age divisions we have no 0-11 month babys 2 in the 1-2 years no one in the 3-4 years 4 in the 5-6 years 3 in the 7-9 2 in the 10-12 no one in the 13-14 years 3 in the 15- 18 and 2 in the 19-26 age group. we pay your entry fees to miss georgia for the teens and miss winners and all of our winners get a full crown, a wrap around embrodered and rhinestoned sash, and a crown pillow. we will have two overalls one in the 6 and under age groups and one in the 7 to 14 years these two girls recieve everything listed above plus a nine inch tall crown. we will also be picking our new spokesmodel for patnee creations to appear in our ads in supermodles unlimited and on any other advertising we do throughout the year. we will also be giving out a supermodel with style award from supermodels unlimited magazine this girl receives a large crown a wrap around banner and a full page in their magazine to show her photos. call me for more info i hope to see you all there.

i think that this is a great idea. if you do decide to have it, please send me some information on it. i would like for my daughter to compete in it or maybe even to judge it. i started and directed the Montgomery county Relay pageant and i have judged a few relay pageants this year, and i also let my child compete in the relay pageants that i am not involved in. Sounds like a lot of fun and all for a good cause. My daughter would definitly do it. My uncle has been thru a terrible ordeal with cancer and anything that can help would be well worth it!

i would just like to say that the Georgia Charisma pageant was wonderful, it was so organized and the director done a great job and all of the parents and contestants were so nice and hospitable. this is how all pageants should be. we had a great time and look forward to competing again. Yes we are still taking applications and will continue until deadline which is March 15, unless the group fills before then. In answering your question concerning a child walking alone Iam sure that there will be some that will walk by themselves, but others may need help and I always ask the Judges not to count off for this, because this is a learning stage and I want everyone to be comfortable and have a good time. The Miss Georgia Peach Scholarship pageants will be held Mar 13, 2004 at the Pettigrew Center in Fort Valley, GA. Five queens and 3 runner ups for each will be selected. Queens will serve as the official ambassadors for the Georgia Peach Festival, as well as be presented to the Georgia legistlature. Age groups are tiny 4-6, little 7-10, junior 14-16, teen 14-16, and miss 17-23. Talent is optional for the little, junior, and teen. Talent is required for the miss.

This is a wonderful opportunity for the miss to prepare for next year's preliminary's because the miss pageant has all the miss georgia format except swimsuit and platform.

I have had several phone calls concerning the People's Choice Category. Let me make this clear to everyone. We are going to Crown a Miss Georgia Charisma Starlet(People's Choice) in each age division, that will be the young lady that collects the most votes and they are $1.00 each and each contestant is required to collect at least $10.00 toward their People's Choice. Then the young lady that collects the Most money in the entire pageant will be crowned the Over All Miss Charisma Starlet Queen. The Over All Starlet Queen and the Division Starlet Queens are not required to make any appearances or Crown the next years winners. I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY THAT THIS IS A VERY GOOD PAGEANT FOR GIRLS . THE PERSON THAT IS OVER IT IS ONE OF MY VERY BEST FRIENDS AND DEVOTES ALOT OF HIS TIME TO HELPING MAKE THIS A GOOD PAGEANT. I WOULD ENCOURAGE ANYONE TO CHECK IT OUT AND SEE FOR THEMSELVES. THE MONEY GOES TO A GOOD CAUSE AND YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER PERSON TO WORK WITH THAN NOAH GRIFFEN.
