Coy-Op 2K5, as I'm calling it, will be 28-30 JAN 2005. Depending on who is going, we may either convoy from GR or rendevous up near the engagement area. Once I figure out who is going, and when they can leave town, I'll post a departure time and place. The Campsite will be at or around 549100mE by 4888675mN. That should put us approximately near forest trail 5785 north of forest trail 5378. The suggested rendevous point is at 547980mE by 4887000mN, or the intersecton of forest trail 5378 and Old Freesoil Road, south of Manistee, in Mason County. I scouted the area this weekend and talked to a few of the indigenous people (mainly my parents) and they say that they've been hearing the coyotes almost every night. Also, the deer harvest hasn't been going too well, meaning that there are probably less deer to starve and die, leaving less food for coyotes to scavenge. Directions are as follows: 31 N to Ludington East 5 MI on HW10 to Stiles Rd North on Stiles Rd to Townline, where the road ends. Go East then back North onto Quarterline (just stay on the paved road) Follow Quarterline untill it ends at Countyline Rd. Turn West and follow Countyline down to Morton, and turn South. Turn West on Sass (unpaved) and keep following it past where it turns south by Lake Michigan (oooh the view!). When you reach the top of the hill, the rendevous point is on the east side of the road, at the beginning of FR 5378. Bring everything, vehicles will be at the campsite. If we want MI beer, let me know, as I can get a 1/6th barrel (40ish Pints) of any JPBC Beer for about $40. There will be strict rules about drinking and handling firearms, such as DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. 4x4 vehicles is strongly recommended, as these are fire roads or 2 tracks, and they are not plowed in the winter. If there is too much snow, we might have to pack gear in, and if there is a blizzard or something, I know of someone with an empty basement. If I've forgotten anything let me know. I have maps of the area, and I'll be at Mr. Burger this Friday for breakfast, if anyone wants to look at them. Belvedere >I'm there.
