I think "Jumar" is a brand name for a hand "expedition" ascender? We plan to use a hand ascender and a "Croll" (Chest ascender). It's taught as the team "standard" ascending technique. We have two sets. My idea was that we carry the equipment (save the Bike and the canoe), so we can all share the equipment. Unless you're looking for an excuse to buy them, then you need them. ;) >(Can I talk you into a 30-hour race on Sept 24-25? >Trying to put together a 4-person team for this one...) Not yet, but soon. And actually, Randy was in the same profession as I, (Service, air assult, airborne?, etc.) and last year in the Agawa Canyon, he was a persistent hill climber and seemed pretty much tireless. So, this year he maybe a good choice. I'm not sure on his land nav skills, but he probably has solid basic skills. And a quiet "team" player, all the way. By the way, I read your Adventure Race report a few times. Great Report. Inspiring and impressive. Pathfinder >ACK! That's my son's birthday weekend.
