Navigating your way around.

Although most trails are well marked, there are some places we go that is remote, Off Trail, in the bush, on the water, etc. If you go to the unknown, how do you navigate? Do you use a GPSr (slang for Global Positioning System Receiver), map and compass, or just a map?

What kind of GPSr do you use? How capable are you in using the features? Did you teach yourself or take a class?

If you use a map and compass, what type of compass and why? Do you “always” carry a compass? What type of map? Trails illustrated, USGS 7.5 minutes topos, or state highway maps?

Finally, have you ever been lost? Where and how long? Describe it.
