I wouldn't recommend anyone less than 15 years of age. There will be long days of paddling, past huge 300 foot ships, and occasionally waves, but the St. Mary's has been travelled by canoe before. The length of the trip precludes most younger teenagers, but there is nothing to say they can't come. If they quit, though, it is up to there adult guardian (parent, etc.) to get them back. I know a lot of youngens that would do fine, but I know others that seem unlikely to finish. But, it is completely up to the expedition leader to decide, so I may be speaking beyond my scope. I'm just the expedition "pathfinder". As far as an outfitter, wapiti found one up there late this summer, but I don't know the name. He will probably post about it when he gets back. I think the team will rent some for $60 for the full 4-5 days. And we will transport them, too. Also, local outfitters may rent them also. >I might be interested in the Soo Expedition.
