This night went on and Nikita had met so many people that her head was spinning. Fortunately, none of these people were Michael’s lovers. The night began to end and it soon became time for the couple to bid farewell to their families and wedding guests.
After a majority of the guests departed into the night full of wine and food, Michael and Nikita stood together to bid farewell to their parents. Their carriage would be taking them to their new home at East Gate Hall.
Lady Adrian raised her hands to get everyone’s attention. “Now that it is just all of us, I would like to say how proud I am of this union. You both were perfect today and I am delighted that our families have joined alliances. Michael, you come over here and say farewell to your mother.”
He kissed Nikita’s cheek and went over to see his family. Nikita’s parents came over to her. Her father kissed her and had tears in his eyes. “You looked beautiful today, my little girl. I am going to miss you.”
Nikita cried as he spoke to her, “Father, I love you and I will miss you as well.”
He hugged his daughter and told her, “If you need anything, do not hesitate to let us know. Your mother and I will be visiting frequently. Be wary of strangers, especially ones we have spoken of. I cannot protect you where you will be now.”
Nikita looked into her father’s eyes, “Father, Michael will always look out for me and I will not be a stranger to you. I will visit you and Mother often. I love you both!”
He hugged her once more and let her speak with her mother. She grabbed her daughter’s hands and said, “I dreaded this day for a long time. The day I would have to let my little girl venture out into the world on her own. Your father and I are extremely proud of you. You are the best of both of us.”
“Mother, I love you and I will carry all that you have taught me. You showed me love, compassion and caring. I found these things in Michael and I will be happy. I never thought I would be happy about this marriage, but Michael has shown me otherwise. ” Nikita wanted her mother to feel better about this marriage contract.
“I am so relieved you are happy. He loves you. I can see it in the way he looks at you. You contact me if you need me my dear.” Madeline whispered in her ears, “And do not rush into your wedding bed my dear.”
Nikita gasped, “Mother, what?”
Madeline smiled, “I mean, my dear, if he loves you, he will wait till you are ready. That is all I am saying.”
Nikita laughed and hugged her mother, “You will never quit being a mother will you?”
Michael heard the whole lecture from his parents about his new life and responsibilities. He could barely hear them because all that occupied his thoughts were his beloved. He had dreamed of taking her home and making love to her all night and for the rest of his life. He had hoped she would be ready tonight because he wanted to show her all of him. He would hold back if she was scared or not ready. It would be worth the wait till the day she allowed him to make her totally his.
“Michael!” Adrian yelled. His attention came back from his thoughts on Nikita. “Have you heard a word I have said?”
“Yes Mother. I am just tired from today is all.”
She smiled at him and put her arms out for a hug. “I will miss you my son and we will be visiting soon. By that time, I expect her to be with child. Do not go back to your lovers until this is completed.”
Michael rolled his eyes and kissed his mother, “Mother, I will no longer have any lovers besides my wife.”
She looked at him with confusion and kissed him. He went to his father who patted him on the back. “You make us proud, my son.” He hugged his father and then went before his younger brother and sister.
“Seymour, you take the reins now. Take care of our mother and your younger sister.” Angela laughed at this.
“I will be taking care of him, Michael. Right Seymour?” Angela poked at Seymour.
“Angela, behave yourself and respect your brother,” Michael lectured. Angela kissed his cheeks and hugged him tightly.
Seymour shook his brother’s hand and said, “If you ever get tired of your wife, give her to me.”
Michael knew he was joking and indicated that would never happen. He looked over at Nikita who seemed at bit emotional at leaving her parents. He went to her and grabbed her hands and kissed them softly and sweetly.
Her mother kissed her forehead and requested of Michael, “Please take care and protect our daughter.”
Michael nodded his head and replied, “Lady Madeline, I will love and protect her for the rest of my days.”
Madeline smiled and held Paul’s hand. Michael asked Nikita, “Are you ready, Lady Samuelle?”
Nikita nodded. He took her hand and they waved once more to their families. They descended the stairs down to their carriage and got on board. Nikita looked out at her parents as they pulled away. Soon, they became tiny figures in the distance. Nikita leaned back into the seat when she could see them no longer.
