In reply to: Loveroy 's message, "I Remember Sarah - Chapter 15 forward (NT)" on Thursday, September 15, 03:17:55am

Elena smiled at Nikita after moving from her husband’s arms and addressed him with a noticeable bit of sarcasm, “So Michael, this must be Sarah, so beautiful and statuesque – I for one am glad you are not dead.” She laughed a sardonic laugh that infuriated the handsome man.

Nikita perplexed by many things, including the entire remark took out her own claws and answered, “And I am glad you are well and living in the suburbs, my darling brother has told me all about you, but his descriptions do you no justice.”

Michael wanted to hand each woman a pair of boxing gloves and let them work out their frustration on each other – may the best woman win. However, he controlled his anxiety and muttered, “Let’s take this inside shall we?”

The ghosts moved quickly past the trio as they stepped through the threshold and although not making their presence known to Nikita, she felt the cold gush of wind when they hurried by her. Nikita immediately thought about Sarah, and had she been able of reprimanding her dead friend she would have, for telling the blonde to be strong and not warning her about the little girl. Michael’s green eyes danced with joy as Adam recounted some hilarious preschool occurrence and Elena fussed over the man’s newly coiffed hair and ignored the little girl who now sat on the rug.

The house was a large suburban home filled to the brim with antiques and mementos of the happy family. The foyer housed a console table were Michael deposited his keys and then hung his motorcycle jacket from a coat closet nearby. In the living room to the left of the entrance, there were large carved wooden doors obviously from Elena’s birthright and in the family room they entered, there were photos of Elena, Michael and Adam, all kinds of boy toys and a large plasma TV that sat frozen on some video game. The enormous built-in bookshelves that lined the wall boasted a collection of worn leather bound volumes with impressive titles.

Elena couldn’t help herself, she may have been jealous of the blonde without actually a good reason, but she was a lady first and offered as her husband fidgeted nervously with the remote control, “Would you like something to drink?”

Michael managed to turn off the noisy repetitious sound of the paused game and sent Adam upstairs to play in his room. Elena objected after the boy whined, but acquiesced to her husband’s request and told Adam to go to his room for they would come up soon. Meanwhile Nikita saw the skies open-up with the drink offer, she needed privacy to talk to Michael and getting rid of the son and the wife was a good start. The little girl sat on a round hand knotted rug and played happily with her antique dolls while every once in a while looking at Nikita and smiling broadly.

Nikita finally replied to Elena’s drink offer, “Yes thank you, tea would be great.”

Elena stood and kissed Michael’s head and answered, “Wonderful, I just made tiny little tea cakes that would go perfect with the new blend of white tea I had Teasim mix for me, Michael, coffee or do you want to try the tea with us?”

Michael also wanted Elena gone, so figuring it would take longer to brew two separate pots, he answered, “Coffee please.” Elena left Michael and Nikita alone in the family room.

No sooner had Elena left the room that Nikita tore into Michael, in hush tones but in no uncertain terms, “Now that Martha Stewart on estrogen is gone…You bastard lying sick f**k… why didn’t you tell me about the little girl.”

To say Michael looked confused would be the understatement of the century, so equally as softly he answered with a question, “What little girl?”

At this point Elena, who could hear just murmurs coming from the family room, decided to breakup the happy family reunion and called out to her husband, “Michael darling, can you come help me?”

Michael looked at Nikita with a pleading look and answered as he moved towards the kitchen, “Of course.”

Nikita laid her head on the back of the couch and rolled her eyes in disgust whispering in a singsong tone, “Oh Sarah, come out come out wherever you are.”

Nikita knew that no one would be able to hear the conversation with her dead friends and when Michael’s sister appeared before her she asked, “What the hell is going on, why didn’t you tell me about the little girl.”

Sarah laughed, “Oh I am sorry, she is not real, you are seeing baby Sarah years down the line… Simone and I thought you would need that vision to give you hope and fortitude.”

Nikita sputtered, “B-b-but…”

Simone appeared and pointed to the TV, little Sarah still played nearby as Simone suggested, “Look Nikita…”

On the television screen that Michael moments before extinguished, the blonde woman could see the previous moments being played back and remembered her concerns as to who the girl was. The beautiful little girl toddling close behind Adam soon replaced the boy in Michael’s arms, but Adam was still close enough. Nikita then saw Sarah and Simone conflicted with Adam’s share in all this misery and Nikita feeling like a criminal for having Michael’s heart while sacrificing his son. Then she saw Michael’s reaction to his duplicitous behavior and it was distinct for each child; for Adam he felt irreconcilable guilt and for the girl he considered his daughter, Michael felt a modicum of hope.

Nikita then looked around the room and noticed that there were no pictures of a little girl, no girlish toys and no sound coming from the pretty child who still sat on the rug. And although Nikita now noticed that in the reflection, Elena ignored the little girl as though she was not there, Mrs. Vacek rejoiced at seeing her grandchildren. But without having to put her concerns into words, after all Simone and Sarah was dead, Sarah spoke to the blonde’s alarm.

Sarah said, “Nik you imagined that Mrs. Vacek was happy to see little Sarah, but she couldn’t see her, it doesn’t work that way. We came up with this scenario and we couldn’t see your vision either, it was yours alone to see. That is your future.”

Michael and Elena entered the room with trays of goodies and tea service. At this point the ‘spooks’ vanished and Nikita felt a warm relaxation come over her. But the calm, as is always the case, comes before the storm and the short-lived moment of bliss disappeared quickly. Elena’s barrage of questions was intended to get to the bottom of the mystery of the sudden appearance of this long lost sister of her husband. Let the games begin.
