Hand in hand they moved to the small kitchen when someone knocked at the door so they moved to the door instead. Still holding her hand Michael opened the door and found ‘Hotel Security’ at the door, so he asked, “Yes?”
“Sir the storm is intensifying, we are closing all the storm shutters over the windows and the balconies and wanted to make sure you were away from them.” Michael nodded and the man spoke into a walkie-talkie, next thing they heard was the electronic shutters locking. “Now, we need to advise you that we do have a subterranean shelter, however if you do not wish to go into it, we suggest you move to a windowless room in the suite when the storm intensifies.” A second guard placed a cart that looked like a steamer trunk marked ‘storm supplies Room #S1142’ inside the door of the suite.
Nikita standing next to Michael now asked, “How will we know to do this?”
“We will interrupt the music” pointing to the air and the tunes coming from the suite, “and sound an alarm. The shelter is packed with people from outside the hotel, this building has seen its share of storms and it is very secure.” The guard said and was now joined by other guards and retreating guests.
“Are we safe here?” Michael asked.
“We believe so sir, however, you must remember to move into the middle of the structure, perhaps the windowless dressing room, when the storm intensifies.” The guard pointed to the map behind the door and said moving on to the next guest room.
“Do you want to go to the shelter?” Michael asked Nikita as they closed the door. He could feel the uneasiness the news they had received brought the woman.
“No, you heard him. And anyway I don’t like to be underground, especially with too many people. Lets prepare the closet he spoke about, where is it?” She asked.
“In my room, inside the bathroom.” He said and smiled for they still held hands and she was now pulling him towards his bedroom, and then remarked, “Do you see everything as an adventure?”
“Yes, but this is no adventure Michael. These storms are wicked and scary, I want to be prepared.” She said walking into the gargantuan bathroom and opening the door to an equally large dressing closet. “Jeez, we could dance in here.”
Michael smiled again, he seemed to be doing a lot of this with this woman, “So, lets…”
He togged at their joined hands and she smoothly floated towards his strong chest. The late Barry White belted a saccharine sweet tune as the pair’s bodies moved, “Michael we’ll have time to do this, let’s see what is in the trunk and bring in whatever else we need.”
