Thanks for making a web site of this real fun actor. It's obvious that he enjoyed his work. I always love watching him; he's the epitomy of the genius character actor. It's an awful shame that he couldn't have lived longer to make more. Only die hard classic movie and theater buffs seem to know anything about him these days.
I've often wondered what happened to him . . I suppose I should've known. These guys . . these wonderful, talented and fun performers; Richard Burton, Lee Marvin, John Wayne . . they all drank too much. They enjoyed life to the fullest, but for God's sake . .
It's easy to envy the people who had a chance to work with him, 'wish I could've. I never get tired of watching "Treasure Island". Maybe someday, God willing, I'll get a chance to play that character . . I could never do it as well or as with as much zest, zeal and outrageous fun as Mr. Newton did, but I pray for a chance to try.

Hi, and thanks for posting!

Sorry I haven't been around much--I'm back in school and my life is very crazy right now. I expect to be finished with my degree this summer, and then I should have time to be a proper webmaster again! In fact, I'm thinking about taking an advanced internet-design course, so I may even be able to get college credit for spiffing up the site!

I agree with you about Treasure Island ... it's one of those movies (like the Wizard of Oz) that I can watch over and over again without getting tired of it. (Not with other people though since, I've seen it so so many times, I can't help saying all the dialog along with the actors!) If you ever get to perform the role, I bet you won't have any trouble memorizing your lines either. ;-)

RN's is certainly one difficult shoe to fill ;-), but I imagine it would be lots of fun. He sure seemed to be having a good time, and I'm sure that's one of the things that makes his performance so great.
