Hey all! I became a fan of Robert Newton after I recently saw "Oliver Twist" again. I always thought he was great in the role of Bill Sikes, but I didn't fully appreciate his acting talent until I'd re-watched the film after some years. So far I've managed to see "Treasure Island," "Jamaica Inn," "Odd Man Out," and "This Happy Breed." I've also got a copy of "Henry V" so I look forward to watching that also.

Anyhow, I basically posted this message to say "Hi" to everyone, and also to ask if anyone knows exactly how tall Robert Newton was and what colour his eyes were? They appeared to be brown although when I saw "Treaure Island" they seemed a bit lighter in some shots. I guess it's not that important but if anyone does know, then I'd appreciate it! By the way, I'm from Victoria, Australia and I'd be interested to know how many other Aussie fans are on here also!

Cheers,
Michelle :)

Ahoy, and welcome, Michelle! Thanks for your post. Sounds like you've seen some good ones. Let us know how you like Henry V! :-)

According to two sources I've read, Robert Newton was 6 feet tall, and I *believe* his eyes were brown. Of course, anyone who knows for sure is welcome to confirm this! They look dark brown to me most of the time, but the lighting could probably change their appearance. One thing I'm pretty sure of: They weren't blue, like in that colorized Soldiers Three lobby card!
