my brother and i started watching robert newton movie reruns on tv in late 50's and became huge fans then noticed him in mostly english movies.i lived in nj and ny tv stations at that time aired quite a few english movies from 30's,40's,50's. we became anglophiles when it came to movies. robert newton was the favorite of ours along with alistair sim.except for niven's superb book which showed a real affection for both "bobbie" and errol flynn i have read nothing else on mr newton, any ideas.i have viewed 17 or 18 of his movies with,in my opinion, many oscar possibilities, one i would like to see again is "this happy breed" a wartime affectionate look at england.i missed the chat but remember there are others like us out there, my brother for instance, thanks for the e-mail.bob

The video is on sale at Amazon. You can also find used videos and DVDs at eBay. Be wary of bootleggers, though! Their pirate copies are often very crappy AND expansive. Usually, if a video is sold without its cover, it's a bootleg.

I apologize for the late notice about the chat ... but there's good news. Seems there's interest in having future live chats. So as soon as I get a chance, I'm hoping to set up a Robert Newton chatroom!

What's everyone's preference for times/days of the week/frequency? I'm looking forward to it!

BTW, it does seem to me that many of the best movies, TV shows, actors, and music come out of England. Guess you could call me an anglophile too.

I'm definitely up for a chat! I'm not sure where everyone lives and what the time differences are between countries, however!

Michelle :)
