I am researching a book about Bobby Driscoll and was wondering if anyone had any anecdotes, quotes, or memories of the movie, of Robert Newton, or Bobby Driscoll, but, most of all, the friendship between the two of them, which was I understand was nearly as wonderful as the relationship between Long John Silver and Jim Hawkins. That says a lot.
Bosley Crowther of The New York Times, said that Robert Newton was guilty of Grand Larceny for stealing Treasure Island from his co-stars, but also gave credit to Bobby by saying "Bobby Driscoll is 'Jim Hawkins!'"
