  Sometimes a book can just take your breath away by the sheer effrontery of the author, in putting before the reader outrageous theories about the character and personality peculiarities of public figures. Barack Obama is given that treatment in the surreal, but very funny, book “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama”. The author, Christopher Antony Meade, seems to delight in making politicians look ridiculous. If the portrayal of Barack had not made me laugh so much, I would almost have felt it was unfair. Reading the chapter, set in the White House at night, left me rolling around the floor in uncontrollable mirth.
  The rest of this novella put me in the same happy condition. The fact that I was laughing at people whom I am supposed to fear or respect, added to the almost guilty sense of fun I felt when I enjoyed this book so much.
  I have no hesitation in saying that “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama” is one of the funniest books I've ever read.

  To be able to make a successful book from such a disparate collection of characters as a brain eating zombie, Barack Obama, the Cheshire cat, the Illuminati and the three little pigs requires a more than ordinary level of imagination and talent. This is undoubtedly displayed by Christopher Antony Meade in his hilarious political satire/comic horror novella “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama”. This e-book, which is currently burning a path for itself up the online retail charts, is probably one of the funniest and definitely the weirdest book I have come across in decades of dedicated bookwormery.
  The chapters dealing with the solution to the Barack Obama ancestry mystery and the true origins and influence of the Illuminati are, as examples of surreal comedy, without equal in modern literature. That is, until you read the rest of the book. I honestly couldn't decide, as my eyes stayed glued to my e-reader, whether I should be laughing uncontrollably or protesting vehemently, at the vicious lampooning of some of our best-known public figures.
  “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama” is an absolute “must have” for anyone who enjoys bursting the pompous balloons, that are the inflated egos of our politicians.

  I object to this book because it is making fun of some people that I really admire, such as Barack Obama, Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler. Who does this guy Christopher Antony Meade think he is? How dare he poke fun at some of the icons of the last century? Who wants to know that Henry Kissinger once slept with a female pig, or that Barack Obama is part alien? (The evidence for that, apparently, can be discovered by examining the contents of his trousers). This novella, “The Zombie, the cat and Barack Obama”, is also packed with loads more accusations and gossip about many of the prominent people in the world today. I can't deny that it's very funny, because it undoubtedly is. But I do feel that the stories it contains should really never have seen the light of day. They are just too embarrassing in their revelations about the antics of our politicians. When people start laughing at their betters, society is embarking on a very perilous journey, one that can eventually end at revolution and social mayhem.
  This is a very dangerous book and one that should never be given into the hands of young people or servants.

The author Christopher Antony Meade just seems to have a talent for making the most powerful people look totally ridiculous. Barack Obama is just one of the characters lampooned in this very clever and savagely ridiculing novella. Adolf Hitler, Osama bin laden, the Illuminati and the three little pigs all come in for a pasting. The world, as described by Mr Meade, is almost unreal in its absurdity but, like all great satire, the reader is left with the niggling suspicion that all of what he is reading may just well be true.
  If you do nothing else for your entertainment this year, at least read this book. “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama” will leave you chuckling for months.

  I won't bore you too much by going into too much detail about this really funny book called “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama”. It was written by the talented Irish political satirist Christopher Antony Meade and it is a spoof on conspiracy theories, most especially on those about the Illuminati, Area 51, and the rumours about the ancestry and origins of United States President Barack Obama.
  The unbridled imagination of Meade brings the reader into a world, that is as surreal as it is funny. The book gets off to a flying start with a zombie story, (but not like any encountered before). The zombie is actually a very talented classical musician as well as a brain eating psychopath. The transformation of this undead monster into something different, but totally unexpected, moves the story into more elevated, but surreally funny realms.
  Rather than spoil things by giving the rest of the story away, I will suggest simply that you avail yourself of the first opportunity to read this irreverently hilarious novella.

From the opening chapter, where the reader is introduced to the ravening, but musically talented, zombie Julian Faversham; to the finale and the encounter between the zombie and Barack Obama, the reader is taken on a surreal journey that takes ranges through Area 51 to the death of Adolf Hitler and a lot more besides. All these subjects are treated with an almost nihilistic irreverence, which gives a new and very funny twist to political satire. The fortunate reader might find this book to be one of the funniest he or she has ever read, but you can guarantee that the various politicians and public figures, mercilessly lampooned in its pages will find it less than amusing.
  If you want to read a really good book, that will leave you laughing uncontrollably at the pretensions of those who set themselves up as our rulers, buy this one. If you are a politician or a public figure, take a “chill pill” before reading it. You will need to.

The savagely merciless way in which he makes fun of United States President Barack Obama makes this book one of the great classics of modern political satire.
  The hapless Obama is not the only politician who is ridiculed in this very funny, but totally irreverent, novella. The former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger is also the target of Meade’s cutting ridicule and if late Director of the FBI J Edgar Hoover was still alive, he would probably be squirming with embarrassment.

The notion that our president Barack Obama is a hapless wuss, who starts screaming for help just because he is attacked by a brain eating zombie and goes into panic mode when the killing of Osama bin Laden doesn't go according to plan, is an insult to the integrity and capability of this great statesman.
  The libellous assertion by that lie peddling, spawn of the devil Meade, that President Obama’s maternal grandfather is a shape shifting alien, should not go unchallenged. Not even the dead patriots are left to rest in peace in this outrageous and corrupting e-book. The rumour that the late great director of the FBI, J Edgar Hoover, was addicted to cross-dressing is paraded in these pages for the whole world to laugh at. Many more great statesman are ridiculed here, including Henry Kissinger, who is said to have had an affair with a shape shifting Illuminati agent.
  It is the opinion of this patriot, that all right minded people should download and read this book straightaway. Then when they are suitably brought to a condition of righteous indignation, they should petition the United States government to trace down this traitorous scumbag Christopher Antony Meade, to whatever stone he may be lurking under and have him transported without delay to Guantánamo Bay. • Praise and appreciation for a very funny book -- Frank Sanello (Convulsed with laughter), 09:23:45 03/13/13 Wed [1]
  Not since a reporter interviewed a certain Louis about his relationship with a vampire by the name of Lestat has the living dead come so alive as in Christopher Antony Meade’s vividly imagined new novella, “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama”.
  Because a plot turn or twist seems to appear on just about every other page, it’s difficult to describe the story and its protagonists without becoming a spoiler or tease, as in “Rosebud is a sled” or “The girl in “The Crying Game” is really a guy.”
  
  Meade takes the reader down a horrific rabbit hole that would have traumatized Alice. During the trip, the author somehow manages to link the myth of flesh-eating zombies to Lewis Carroll’s Cheshire Cat, Pres. Obama’s ancestry, what the government is hiding at Roswell’s Area 51, the actual perpetrators behind the recession and global warming, the Three Little Pigs’ intergalactic origins, 12-Step programs, what really went down when Osama bin Laden was killed, and the “real” source of Hitler’s anti-Semitism which some readers may find a bit too gallow humorous.
  
  Unlike most monster tales from Greek mythology to Lindsay Lohan, “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama” leavens its Grand Guignol style with mordant humour reminiscent of Hitchcock. (Watch Meade’s YouTube video. His voice is identical to Hitchcock’s and perfect for an audiobook version.)
  
  A reviewer of Anne Rice’s third vampire chronicle, 2002’s “Queen of the Damned”, hailed the author for creating “universes within universes.”
  
  The same kudos go to the multiple, interconnected universes of the Oval Office, Zombies Anonymous meetings, Buckingham Palace, bin Laden’s unlikely fetish and other surprises Meade has created and which I will try not to spoil.
  
  WARNING: Skip the next paragraph if you don’t want to find out one of the novella’s plot twists.
  
  Before he’s killed, Osama in Howard Hughes mode indulges his yen for school girls in uniform by watching marathon TV screenings of the St. Trinian’s film series (1954-2007) about a fictional English boarding school for delinquent girls.
  
  Osama’s behavior out grosses a similar but tamer (!?) scene in the South Park animated feature film where Satan and Saddam Hussein have anal sex in hell.
  
  Julian Faversham, the title’s zombie, is a gentleman of the old school who happens to be a member of the living dead cohabiting with Meade’s alter ego and narrator. The fictional Meade, which a police inspector’s report says “claimed to be some sort of a writer, although neither of us had heard of him,” unwittingly invites Julian to share his apartment.
  
  Faversham pays the “rent” by playing Chopin nocturnes and Mozart sonatas on his music-loving roommate’s piano.
  
  “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama” follows the style of classic gothic novels but adds modern-day anachronisms that lend the book its unexpected wit.
  
  The description of Julian is reminiscent of Anne Rice’s blood-sucker Lestat’s – only more nauseating – and I mean that in a good way:
  
  “The figure at the piano got up…and gave me an old-fashioned, courteous bow. He was not a pretty sight. The skin seemed to have dried out and it was shrunken, so that it barely covered the outlines of the skull. If there were any eyes, they were sunk so far into the sockets as to be invisible. Some of [Julian’s] parchment-like epidermis clinging to his neck had come away and was hanging loose like wallpaper…
  
  The hand the cadaver extended to me to shake was green with mould, and the skeletal tips of the fingers emerged from the crumbling remnants of skin that covered the palms and wrists.
  
  “Julian Faversham at your service,” it said.
  
  I declined to shake the decaying appendage”.
  
  WARNING: The next paragraph has another spoiler.
  
  Like all zombies, Faversham craves human flesh, which Meade recasts in 12-Step Speak as an addiction rather than cannibalism. While the clueless author/narrator presumes Faversham is having a “one-night stand” with a female cadaver he’s invited back to their apartment from the local cemetery, it turns out that poor Julian has had a relapse and has resumed eating humans instead of Zombies Anonymous’ recommended alternative, cat food. Julian’s literally cadaverous sex partner turns out to be a fellow member of ZA who sits with him until the urge to cannibalize passes.
  
  One final spoiler I can’t resist: The narrator informs us that Gulliver’s Lilliputians are real and migrated to colonial America, where their descendants commit identity theft and other white-collar crimes.
  
  Meade uses this “historical fact” to satirize the corruption of post-Soviet Russia’s Wild West Capitalism where even the treasures of the Kremlin Museums are for sale to the highest bidder – or stolen by clever Lilliputian thieves.
  
  A series of laugh-out-loud appendices in the book satirize conspiracy theorists by blaming most of the world’s crises on various villains, among them Santa Claus’s psychotic sibling, Anti-Santa.
  
  (Tim Burton needs to read this book. The Anti-Santa story within the story would make a great animated segment in a live-action film about the other characters.)
  
  My only disappointment was that Meade hasn’t given us more. “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama” is one of those books that you wish would never end.
  
  Contact the author and urge him to write a zombie trilogy. It may outsell Anne Rice's!

  A zombie romp through alternative histories and conspiracy theories, told in the style of an old-fashioned Victorian English ghost story.
  
  Packs in a lot of clever ideas and twists and turns for a novella, rewriting and interweaving history and fairytales with irreverence. Like one of the reviewers above, I too would have liked this to have been a longer tale - I felt that it stopped short of fully exploring the possibilities, and thought the onslaught of ideas needed the space of a full-length novel.
  
  The humour (and there is a lot of it) is part-farce and part-Dickensian (the protagonist Anton's landlord is named 'Gutterskunk' in true 'Oliver Twist' style), slamming together alien shape-shifters with Lewis Carroll's Wonderland world, as well as some of the most loved, and some of the most reviled figures in history, from Obama to Hitler.
  
  Faversham the gentleman zombie is memorable, delectable and horrific (and a warning for the squeamish: Meade pulls no punches in describing his more odoriferous and homicidal qualities).
  
  An entertaining, off-the-wall tale.

Characters, as diverse as, Barack Obama, Osama bin Laden and Larry the Downing Street cat are pitilessly lampooned. There is a particularly funny and original explanation of the origins of Barack Obama. The “real story” of how Osama bin Laden met his end is as funny as it is shocking.
  There is an Illuminati connection here as well, also in the death of Adolf Hitler. (It is worth reading for the account of the death of the German dictator alone).
  I don’t want to give too much away in this short review. I will just say that, if you are the type of person who enjoys laughing at those who claim to be our betters, this is the book you should read. You are guaranteed to fall off your seat from laughing.

Twitter will positively smoke from the volume of tweets devoted to it. The year 2012 will not be remembered for the American election, or even for the much prophesied “End of The World”. Rather it will go down in history as the year a great cult classic was published. Move over George Orwell and Anne Rice. Make room for Christopher Antony Meade.
  One of the most pervasive conspiracy theories in the world today is the notion that there is a shadowy organisation called The Illuminati, ruling all behind the scenes. Many books have been written about the influence of these malevolent secret elite, but none describe their history in a way that will have you falling over with laughter. None that is, until “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama” by Christopher Antony Meade exploded on the literary scene.

  I can't possibly imagine the depth of the author's imagination for the purposes of writing this clever little book. It's chock full of amazing details about, well, everything from George Washington to Queen Elizabeth II.
  If you are a fan of 'The Walking Dead', you will certainly love the first treatise of the book when a zombie comes to live with the author and becomes fast friends with his cat. (The cat is from hell, of course, and nothing else is what it appears to be either).
  Who knew that Barack Obama is part Cheshire cat?
  Who knew that Osama Bin Laden loved high school cheerleader porn?
  Who knew that Queen Elizabeth II sleeps with giant curlers in her hair?

After reading the excellent review that accompanies the advertisement, I decided to take the plunge and buy the book. It was a decision I have not regretted. A book of 95 pages should take about four hours to read. “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama” occupied my time for about 10 hours. It was just so funny I had to keep putting it down in order to recover from the laughing.
  I'm not sure whether the author really is telling the truth when he makes his outrageous claims. You can be certain, though; that there will be very embarrassed faces in the homes of the great and good if this book gets widespread circulation.
  It starts off as a conventional enough zombie story. The actual zombie is a cut above the usual run-of-the-mill graveyard refugees. For one thing, he's a very talented classical pianist. When he moves in with a rather naive writer in Wimbledon in South London, he sets in train a series of events that will ultimately bring him to the highest house in the land and an encounter with a rather hapless Barack Obama. Suffice it to say that American brains are on the menu.
  Barack Obama also figures large in this book. The story of his ancestry is as strange as it is funny. Osama bin Laden is revealed to have been a schoolgirl fetishist. The tale of how he met his end is very far removed from the official version. It makes the Navy seal’s account seem rather pallid as well.
  The reader is also treated to some very original and hilarious explanations for such modern controversies, as the real purpose of area 51, or the very surprising cause of chem trails, among others.
  I have to say that this book is an imaginative and comic triumph. My only regret about it is that it came to an end. I hope I don't have to wait too long for the sequel.   I think I should give you a small taster of this great book that I just can’t seem to stop banging on about. This section is about climate change, or global warming if you prefer. It is a typical example of the idiosyncratically witty style of writing employed by Christopher Antony Meade throughout the book. I hope you enjoy reading this little excerpt.
  “A topic that has been the subject of much debate in recent years is the belief that the climate of the planet is gradually undergoing a change, the so called global warming. Many in the scientific community have been saying that the temperature of the atmosphere has been steadily warming over the past couple of decades, with a resultant melting of the polar icecaps and increase in sea level that will lead to the inundation of many low level areas of our countries if the process is not halted. The Himalayan glaciers are also said to be affected; and the rain belts in Africa plus the monsoons in India have shifted, thus causing increasing problems for agricultural production in those parts of the world.
  
  The blame for much of this climate change/global warming is being put on humankind, and most particularly on the burning of fossil fuels, and the emissions from most forms of oil driven vehicles.

They claim among other things that any change is much exaggerated, or that it is naturally occurring, down to sunspot activity etc. These people tend, in large measure, to come from the oil company lobbyists, or, for some odd reason from the religious right.
  
  I have to place myself firmly on the side of those who believe in climate change. The evidence that something big is happening is just too great to ignore. Global temperatures are rising, and they are being driven by artificial forces. But the scientists and climatologists are fatally wrong in one important particular. It is not down to the motor car, or to carbon from our factories, or even to the methane exhalations of all our cows. The real cause of climate change/global warming is a very large, and growing, belt of magnifying lenses that is orbiting our planet just beyond the edge of our atmosphere. This is constructed from billions of reading glasses lenses and discarded or stolen contact lenses. It has been placed in orbit around The Earth by an alliance of The Illuminati and those malevolent greed mongers the Lilliputians of Gulliver's Travels fame.

  When I first saw this book advertised, I was reluctant to buy it. I'd never heard of the author Christopher Antony Meade and I was reluctant to spend any of my hard earned funds on his novella. After reading the excellent review that accompanies the advertisement, I decided to take the plunge and buy the book. It was a decision I have not regretted. A book of 95 pages should take about four hours to read. “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama” occupied my time for about 10 hours. It was just so funny I had to keep putting it down in order to recover from the laughing.
  I'm not sure whether the author really is telling the truth when he makes his outrageous claims. You can be certain, though; that there will be very embarrassed faces in the homes of the great and good if this book gets widespread circulation.
  It starts off as a conventional enough zombie story. The actual zombie is a cut above the usual run-of-the-mill graveyard refugees. For one thing, he's a very talented classical pianist. When he moves in with a rather naive writer in Wimbledon in South London, he sets in train a series of events that will ultimately bring him to the highest house in the land and an encounter with a rather hapless Barack Obama. Suffice it to say that American brains are on the menu.
  Barack Obama also figures large in this book. The story of his ancestry is as strange as it is funny. Osama bin laden is revealed to have been a schoolgirl fetishist. The tale of how he met his end is very far removed from the official version. It makes the Navy seal’s account seem rather pallid as well.
  The reader is also treated to some very original and hilarious explanations for such modern controversies, as the real purpose of area 51, or the very surprising cause of chem trails, among others.
  I have to say that this book is an imaginative and comic triumph. My only regret about it is that it came to an end. I hope I don't have to wait too long for the sequel. Mind you, I will have to find some way of stopping this laughing. Otherwise, I will be suing Christopher Antony Meade for putting me into this state in the first place.

  But in addition to the riveting accounts related in those articles there have been many more incidences of their interference in history and it was usually for the bad of humanity. In this essay I am going to just detail one example from history of the disastrous consequences that ensued for the world from the actions of one shape shifting member of the porcine fraternity.
  
  There can be very few people who have not heard of Adolf Hitler. This man, who was Chancellor of Germany from 1933 until 1945, plunged the world into the horror of the Second World War, and his name will live in infamy as the architect of that abomination "The Holocaust". He has been the subject of many conspiracy theories himself. There are many people who believe that he survived the fall of Berlin, and went on to live in retirement in South America. One of the mysteries that has occupied the thoughts of historians ever since is what became of his body after death. And it is that subject that I am about to address in this short article.
  Many theories have been put forward as to why Hitler developed such a diabolical hatred for the Jewish race. So great was his detestation that he devoted almost all his efforts, after he came to power, to trying to completely remove the children of Israel from the face of the planet. Some have said that he resented a Jewish professor at the Viennese Academy of Art for rejecting his application for a course. Others have said that he was trying to distract attention away from the fact that he had some Jewish forbears. The true reason for his pathological loathing of that unfortunate race can be revealed here for the first time. The reality is that Adolf Hitler was a shape shifting pig, and a member of The Illuminati. He hated the Jews because he resented the fact that they would not eat pork, and paradoxically he hated all other Illuminati members as well.
  
  Early in his career the man who went on to terrorise the planet tried to organise a coup in Munich called "The Beer Hall Putsch". It was his intention to take over the government of Bavaria. This was organised in cooperation with General Ludendorff, who was a prominent member of The Illuminati. Things did not go too well however, and the rebellion failed miserably. Hitler and the general were arrested. Hitler was sentenced to a period of imprisonment in The Landsberg Fortress. The general got off with a suspended sentence. Hitler hated the general from then on because he gave him no more support.
  
  Prior to this the political platform of Adolf Hitler was very largely anti-Semitic. But the bitterness over his imprisonment really brought it to a new level of hysteria. You see his mind confused his hatred of his fellow Illuminati, represented by General Ludendorff, with his hatred of the Jews; and when he considered that Jewish people would not eat pork, and were consequently sparing the very fraternity that he hated so much, his rage against them became all consuming. It is from such a mundane source that the horror which was later to engulf European Jewry grew. The results are in all our history books.
  
  But it is the mystery of Hitler's death, and the final disposition of his body that I want to come on to now. History tells us that Berlin fell to the approaching Russian armies in late April 1945. We are further told that the German dictator killed himself some days before. An attempt was made to burn his body to prevent it falling into the hands of the enemy. The burning was not a complete success. No trace of the remains of Adolf Hitler, however have ever been produced. This is one of the things that have given rise to the notion that he might have escaped. He didn’t. The truth is even more unbelievable.

  The story as it has come down to us is essentially a true one. It is just the outcome that has been kept hidden.
  
  Anyway for those of you who are unfamiliar with the tale, I will retell it now.
  
  Many centuries ago, on an Island in the Atlantic Ocean, there lived three little pigs. The island is known to us as Atlantis, and it is no longer there. But as its ending has got nothing to do with this story I do not intend to go into it here. The porcine fraternity in those old days were a lot more advanced than they appear to be nowadays, and when they were not writing poetry or painting great works of art they were engaged in inventing cutting edge technology such as spaceships that could orbit Jupiter and computers that could out compute anything that we could devise today.
  
  But to get back to our story. The Three Little Pigs had varying talents. The first one was a very accomplished violinist and composer. A fragment of one of his compositions was found in excavations on The Canary Islands. It was compared in quality to the violin concerto of Johannes Brahms; in fact some suspect that that composer may have copied the slow movement theme from a copy of the Little Pig fragment on display in Vienna.
  
  Pig no two was a great poet. No examples of his work have come down to us, so you will just have to take my word for it.
  
  The third pig was of a more practical bent. He studied architecture at the Atlantis University. One of his architectural blueprints was traded to some Egyptian merchants who were visiting the island at the time. The building that we now know as The Great Pyramid was the result.
  
  Anyway these great porcine geniuses decided to build three new houses for themselves.
  
  The musician decided to build one of straw. He believed that the absorption qualities would give a more warm quality to his sound when he played the violin to the local musical cognoscenti in his new music room, which was the principal room in the residence.
  
  The poet decided to build himself a house of sticks. He was a bit of a "New Age" freak. He wanted to build his house of organic materials in order to give himself more of a union with nature. He felt it would accentuate his poetic sensibilities.
  
  The architect decided to build a house of bricks. He wanted something that would outlast him, and be a beacon of taste to the generations that would come after.
  Not long after the three houses were completed a stranger came to Atlantis. This was a wolf, and a most ferocious one at that. He had been receiving treatment at a clinic for pork addiction, but had absconded half way through his course. He was, as a consequence, the absolute last individual that was needed on the island at the time.

There is a particularly funny and original explanation of the origins of Barack Obama. The “real story” of how Osama bin Laden met his end is as funny as it is shocking.
  There is an Illuminati connection here as well, also in the death of Adolf Hitler. (It is worth reading for the account of the death of the German dictator alone).
  I don’t want to give too much away in this short review. I will just say that, if you are the type of person who enjoys laughing at those who claim to be our betters, this is the book you should read. You are guaranteed to fall off your seat from laughing.

  When I first saw this book advertised, I was reluctant to buy it. I'd never heard of the author Christopher Antony Meade and I was reluctant to spend any of my hard earned funds on his novella. After reading the excellent review that accompanies the advertisement, I decided to take the plunge and buy the book. It was a decision I have not regretted. A book of 95 pages should take about four hours to read. “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama” occupied my time for about 10 hours. It was just so funny I had to keep putting it down in order to recover from the laughing.
  I'm not sure whether the author really is telling the truth when he makes his outrageous claims. You can be certain, though; that there will be very embarrassed faces in the homes of the great and good if this book gets widespread circulation.
  It starts off as a conventional enough zombie story. The actual zombie is a cut above the usual run-of-the-mill graveyard refugees. For one thing, he's a very talented classical pianist. When he moves in with a rather naive writer in Wimbledon in South London, he sets in train a series of events that will ultimately bring him to the highest house in the land and an encounter with a rather hapless Barack Obama. Suffice it to say that American brains are on the menu.
  Barack Obama also figures large in this book. The story of his ancestry is as strange as it is funny. Osama bin laden is revealed to have been a schoolgirl fetishist. The tale of how he met his end is very far removed from the official version. It makes the Navy seal’s account seem rather pallid as well.
  The reader is also treated to some very original and hilarious explanations for such modern controversies, as the real purpose of area 51, or the very surprising cause of chem trails, among others.
  I have to say that this book is an imaginative and comic triumph. My only regret about it is that it came to an end. I hope I don't have to wait too long for the sequel. Mind you, I will have to find some way of stopping this laughing. Otherwise, I will be suing Christopher Antony Meade for putting me into this state in the first place.

  Not since a reporter interviewed a certain Louis about his relationship with a vampire by the name of Lestat has the living dead come so alive as in Christopher Antony Meade’s vividly imagined new novella, “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama”.
  Because a plot turn or twist seems to appear on just about every other page, it’s difficult to describe the story and its protagonists without becoming a spoiler or tease, as in “Rosebud is a sled” or “The girl in “The Crying Game” is really a guy.”
  
  Meade takes the reader down a horrific rabbit hole that would have traumatized Alice. During the trip, the author somehow manages to link the myth of flesh-eating zombies to Lewis Carroll’s Cheshire Cat, Pres. Obama’s ancestry, what the government is hiding at Roswell’s Area 51, the actual perpetrators behind the recession and global warming, the Three Little Pigs’ intergalactic origins, 12-Step programs, what really went down when Osama bin Laden was killed, and the “real” source of Hitler’s anti-Semitism which some readers may find a bit too gallow humorous.
  
  Unlike most monster tales from Greek mythology to Lindsay Lohan, “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama” leavens its Grand Guignol style with mordant humour reminiscent of Hitchcock. (Watch Meade’s YouTube video. His voice is identical to Hitchcock’s and perfect for an audiobook version.)
  
  A reviewer of Anne Rice’s third vampire chronicle, 2002’s “Queen of the Damned”, hailed the author for creating “universes within universes.”
  
  The same kudos go to the multiple, interconnected universes of the Oval Office, Zombies Anonymous meetings, Buckingham Palace, bin Laden’s unlikely fetish and other surprises Meade has created and which I will try not to spoil.
  
  WARNING: Skip the next paragraph if you don’t want to find out one of the novella’s plot twists.
  
  Before he’s killed, Osama in Howard Hughes mode indulges his yen for school girls in uniform by watching marathon TV screenings of the St. Trinian’s film series (1954-2007) about a fictional English boarding school for delinquent girls.
  
  Osama’s behavior out grosses a similar but tamer (!?) scene in the South Park animated feature film where Satan and Saddam Hussein have anal sex in hell.
  
  Julian Faversham, the title’s zombie, is a gentleman of the old school who happens to be a member of the living dead cohabiting with Meade’s alter ego and narrator. The fictional Meade, which a police inspector’s report says “claimed to be some sort of a writer, although neither of us had heard of him,” unwittingly invites Julian to share his apartment.
  
  Faversham pays the “rent” by playing Chopin nocturnes and Mozart sonatas on his music-loving roommate’s piano.
  
  “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama” follows the style of classic gothic novels but adds modern-day anachronisms that lend the book its unexpected wit.
  
  The description of Julian is reminiscent of Anne Rice’s blood-sucker Lestat’s – only more nauseating – and I mean that in a good way:
  
  “The figure at the piano got up…and gave me an old-fashioned, courteous bow. He was not a pretty sight. The skin seemed to have dried out and it was shrunken, so that it barely covered the outlines of the skull. If there were any eyes, they were sunk so far into the sockets as to be invisible. Some of [Julian’s] parchment-like epidermis clinging to his neck had come away and was hanging loose like wallpaper…
  
  The hand the cadaver extended to me to shake was green with mould, and the skeletal tips of the fingers emerged from the crumbling remnants of skin that covered the palms and wrists.
  
  “Julian Faversham at your service,” it said.
  
  I declined to shake the decaying appendage”.
  
  WARNING: The next paragraph has another spoiler.
  
  Like all zombies, Faversham craves human flesh, which Meade recasts in 12-Step Speak as an addiction rather than cannibalism. While the clueless author/narrator presumes Faversham is having a “one-night stand” with a female cadaver he’s invited back to their apartment from the local cemetery, it turns out that poor Julian has had a relapse and has resumed eating humans instead of Zombies Anonymous’ recommended alternative, cat food. Julian’s literally cadaverous sex partner turns out to be a fellow member of ZA who sits with him until the urge to cannibalize passes.
  
  One final spoiler I can’t resist: The narrator informs us that Gulliver’s Lilliputians are real and migrated to colonial America, where their descendants commit identity theft and other white-collar crimes.
  
  Meade uses this “historical fact” to satirize the corruption of post-Soviet Russia’s Wild West Capitalism where even the treasures of the Kremlin Museums are for sale to the highest bidder – or stolen by clever Lilliputian thieves.
  
  A series of laugh-out-loud appendices in the book satirize conspiracy theorists by blaming most of the world’s crises on various villains, among them Santa Claus’s psychotic sibling, Anti-Santa.
  
  (Tim Burton needs to read this book. The Anti-Santa story within the story would make a great animated segment in a live-action film about the other characters.)
  
  My only disappointment was that Meade hasn’t given us more. “The Zombie, the Cat and Barack Obama” is one of those books that you wish would never end.
  
  Contact the author and urge him to write a zombie trilogy. It may outsell Anne Rice's!

  Finally a great novel of the twenty first century and about Adolf Hitler too.
  
  I am one of those readers who yawn at the prospect of reading either science-fiction or historical novels. My notion of hell would be to be forced to spend an eternity wading through books that purport to take me into a realm that I could never enter myself. My horror would be further increased by being told by the devilish librarian that the book portrayed a parallel universe. Satan will now have to think again. That torture no longer holds any fears for me. I've just read a volume that is a historical novel and also takes the reader into a parallel universe. I have to say that this book is one of the very best I've read and I'm penning this short review, in order to introduce it to the wider readership, that its quality and breadth of vision undoubtedly deserve.

  There have been many novels written about World War II and the characters that were the leading lights in that great conflict. The Pyramids of Giza could probably be wallpapered with the books which have been written about Adolf Hitler alone. How often has a publisher not sighed in exasperation when yet another tome about the Second World War lands on his desk? What is needed to set the publishing and reading world on fire is a book that treats the last great worldwide conflagration with some imagination and originality. I have to tell you that such a piece of literature has at last been completed. The book which I am about to review is one of the most startlingly original of anything that it has been my pleasure to peruse in recent years. I am speaking about The Autobiography of Frau Adolf Hitler, born Countess Christina Bernadotte, translated and edited by historian and novelist Frank Sanello.
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  What you will be acquiring, if you purchase this book, is a panoramic and intimate insight into the world surrounding Adolf Hitler. This will be presented to you through the words of the evil dictator’s wife. I am not talking about the insipid and frivolous Eva Braun. Rather the genius of Mr Sanello has told the story of the Third Reich from the point of view of the wife, which nobody knew Hitler had. Countess Bernadotte, according to the story, was forced to wed Adolf by her ambitious Nazi loving mother. She detested her husband for more than just his political ruthlessness. He had some pretty disgusting sexual depravities as well, the details of which are portrayed graphically in the book. I will only say here that the words “walking”,”dog” and “brown” figure in the description of this perversion.
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  I don't wish to give away too much of the story. But I will tell you that Countess Bernadotte, or Mrs Hitler, if you prefer, proceeds, from her position at the centre of the evil conspiracy to conquer the world, to try and mitigate some of its worst excesses. She sets up an organisation to save as many Jews as possible from the Holocaust. To help her do this she has to flatter some seriously odious characters. Hermann Goring is among the more evil of them. Towards the end of the book there is a chapter which shows this loathsome Reich Marshal in all his absolute odiousness.
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  The more minor characters are no less well portrayed in this gripping novel than the central participants. The Duke and Duchess of Windsor are shown to us in all their ridiculous and idiotic vanity. The intrepid countess also has a meeting with the less than sympathetic Pope Pius XII. I must at this stage take issue with Mr Sanello regarding the picture he paints of this great Pontiff. Pope Pius has been disgracefully treated by some ill-informed historians in recent years. It takes away somewhat from this, otherwise excellent, book to see the libel being repeated yet again. Still it is a very well crafted, if inaccurate, picture.
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  The saddest part of this book is, that while its heroine exhausted her strength and risked her life, in trying to save thousands of the victims of this evil time, she was not shown the gratitude or the appreciation that she should have been, by the co-religionists of the people she helped.   The touching relationship between the book’s central character and her son by Hitler gives an engaging story within a story to this epically scoped book. The terror of and detestation for his evil wicked father scars the young boy for life. But his existence is made tolerable by the great genius that germinates within his youthful soul. The love which Countess Bernadotte has for her son also elevates her stress filled life.
  
  Read no more books about Adolf Hitler until you read this one.
  
  I will bring this review of the “Magnum Opus” of Mr Frank Sanello to a close by urging you, if you spend your money on nothing else during this recession haunted era, to purchase your copy immediately it becomes available. Read it, and then give it an honoured place, either on your bookshelf or your hard drive, (depending on whether you buy the printed or the digital version). The farmer decided to look on his computer for a solution to the problem. Perhaps he might find something on e bay. "My three daughters will be girls gone wild if I cannot rid the farm of rats", he thought. " No more playing games". Being a loving father and husband he confined himself to looking for solutions to his problem. He did not linger on porn sites, nor was he tempted to type in "sex" or "lesbians frolicing". If he came across any nude pictures he quickly clicked to a different page, especially if he could hear his wife coming. The only real indulgence he allowed himself was to look at the Eminem website, because he had a passion for that rapper. He was tempted to look at his daughters' Myspace pages, because like all good fathers he wanted to check what sort of person his children were consorting with on line. But he didnt know their passwords so he had to leave that for now. He did sign up to a games cheat page, as he was a keen gamer, who always wanted to win. The free porn was a temptation which he resisted
  So after trying Google, Yahoo, MSN, and a host of other websites, includng 89.com he finally found what he was looking for in a little known site called mapquest. While he didnt want to just go around the 50 cent end of the market, he couldnt afford to spend too much. But he found what he wanted in an ad from a homeless animals shelter. It said "Dogs available for good homes".
  He knew this was exactly what he needed. If the useless pussy objected she knew what she could do.
  So he got three terrier dogs. Within two weeks all the rats were gone. As for the lazy pussy, she has not been seen around the farm from that day to this, but being a pussy you can depend on it that she ended up ok.
