In reply to: rosy 's message, "templar site" on 19:39:08 05/29/04 Sat

I am sorry about the state of the site. Unfortunately it is beyond my power. I keep repairing it and it quickly becomes corrupt again. At the moment however, it can be read properly from my computer. Is it still corrupt on yours? If so....that is worse! I can't repair it if I can't see the present problem. I will be changing the site soon and moving to a real, fully functional and larger web space. It hurts I must admit, to see my website corrupted by the company that runs it.

Well...onto your question: I live in Germany at the moment but will soon be moving back to Scotland. Luckily I am in the heart of the Rosicrucian movement. Many believed the Golden Rose-croix were reformed Templars. I was lucky to hold the original Fama Fraternitatis (Rosicrucian Manifesto) this year under strict security in an underground section of a library. While the cameras were observing and while copying was illegal (due to light damage of the near-400 year old book) I managed to take a fair number of pictures of its most interesting chapters. The pictures can be read. My wife is German and is in the laborious proccess of translating it words from the pictures.

I know that it is believed that you used a secret encrypted code to communicate with each other. This was the enochian language. I have, in my possesion a beautiful English language version of the Book of the Secrets of Enoch. This must not be confused with the better known Book of Enoch. This book was unknown for 1200 years except in Russia and was discovered by a german writer in the 1800s. It features giants, watchers and communications with other-worldly beings. It is believed to have been written between 1 and 50AD.

No-one really knows if the Rosicrucian society actually existed. But.......it takes people to write books and the books exist. It is a fascinating history.

Recently I have been researching the secret tunnels between monasteries and convents. There are many hundreds and all make it quite clear that the men and women were having secret meetings at night. I wonder why?? :)

One thing you must remember about the Templar order, however, is that they were sworn by oath to leave their clothes on at all times and to wash with their clothes and armour intact. They were also sworn to obey the rule that dictated that they must not take thier armoured shoes off to sleep not must they let go of their sword. Now, while we can presume that they occasionaly (or regularly) broke this oath.....their hygein must have been frightening to say the least. They wore long beards and shaved their heads. Interesting to note that the Pope(s) who enforced these oaths had many relationships with women. Slight hypocrisy I think....

I hope I answered your questions and hope to speak again soon.

Gardez Bien

Thanks for the info. Shame about your web page.
Who were the reformed Templars?
I have been looking for info on a Robert d'Arbrisell and have wondered too if there is any Templar connection with the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud?

I have just read In Praise of the New Knighthood by St. Bernard and it made me think of modern day fundamentalists.
Nothing much changes.
