Need to ask a question. I am a Greek teacher, doing private tutorials in English. I have a 9-year-old girl who is clearly dyslexic. Her parents refuse to admit there is a problem. I have tried to explain that it is not a matter of intelligence of will and that their daughter may be dyslexic.I am under the impression that the father thinks she is not very intelligent while the mother puts it down to pure laziness. As far as the girl is concerned she is actually very enthusiastic when it comes to her English lesson and wants to become an English teacher. I am at a loss because since the parents won't admit it I have to assess her like any other child (spelling-reading-writing)knowing that this is wrong. The girl herself has opened up to me about it, telling how she confused she feels when she tries to read and how she can recognise individual letters or their sounds but canot combine them. She knows there's something wrong but of course has not quite realised what it is. What can I do? Any suggestions would be gratly appreciated.
