I have fund that positive reinforcment works well with my son. When has has done smething simple such as helping others or having kind hands at school or at home then he is given verbal praise.
The comments in the hand book about certificates for non academic achiements is one i employ at school. I have always rewarded certificates or merits for social activities rather than academic with dyslexic children. It appears to do their confidence a power of good.
