From a parent experience...

Try orten-gillum method, or barton method.

Try playing games that involves letters... scrabble with tiles up, place in typical crossword pattern.

Alphabet letters cut out in the shape of the letter, place in arch in front of child, let him pull out letters from arch to spell.

Teach him to type..... it is important for him to be able to sign his name only... otherwise print. Typing can be done in most situations.

Time, I would not over load him on information, take each task slow and at his pace, you may find that some things will go faster than others. My son tutoring wise could only handle 1 to 2 hours at the most at one time.

Remember dyslexia is more about how his brain is processing information.
