Subject: Re: help Author: S D Waner paschar (vision) [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 04:48:17 02/15/08 Fri In reply to: Martha 's message, "help" on 08:24:42 12/29/07 Sat most teachers don`t understand dyslexia and due to there sturborness of the belief that all students can learn to read in standard format never will understand dyslexia, first let your daughter show you how she precieves objects with pictures (show her an object and have her draw it)then compair her drawing with the orignal NOTE to take care to place a possition mark on the orignal and ask her to duplicate the mark ,then note the possition of the mark on her drawing as to whether it is upside down or inverted left to right as this would be a sign that she may have a persistant condition of either vertical or horizontal dyslexia (reading upside down or from right to left)style of printing, if it is right to left she may have a very rare type of dyslexia known as strephosymbolia of which there is no known cure and she must addapt all print to her range of vision , the test for this is to take a thin white writing paper and write her name on the paper with a black felt tip sharpie or magic marker and allow the ink to bleed through the paper , then flip the paper over and trace all lines of each font then show her the traced print .
