I have an eight year old daughter who is diagnosed as dyslexic. She has problems at school with other children at who call her stupid and have even actually told her she is not dyslexic and just thick. She calls herself stupid and says she hates herself. It is a constant struggle to build her confidence. We have written down all of the things she is good at, and why we think she is special, which she loved.I have also encouraged her to find hobbies that she really enjoys and is good at - horse riding is her favourite. She knows she is dyslexic and we have told her it's just a different way of learning and that she is just as clever(if not more) than the other children in her class. Hope this helps.
