Hello Percy.

What you've described here sounds like 'Nappy Discipline'; a traditional discipline usually reserved for dealing with particularly disruptive boys or sometimes used as an additional discipline with petticoating. That your mother viewed nappies and plastic pants as sensible and practical attire for you suggests this was something more than an occasional 'convenience' for your mother, so an ongoing discipline is more likely the case and would certainly be more effective as a means of control. You may or may not be interested to hear that one of my neighbours uses the same discipline with her son, a boy of 18 who is still very firmly under his mother's control and a more well behaved and polite young man it would be hard to find. And finally, just for the sake of my own curiosty I would like to know if you were subject to any lengthy periods of nappy discipline, by which I mean longer than one or two days; and at what age did this type of discipline ceased to be used by your mother?
