In the spring and summer, when the same age as your son, my mother dressed me in running around clothes as it was termed. This comprised short puff sleeved blouse, frilly rumba panties, ultra short plaid skirt, white pelerine socks and Mary Jane flat sandals.

She considered it ideal healthy attire. It also made it very easy for my mother to put me over her lap to smack my bottom if I was naughty.

You could dress your son in a similar fashion, though perhaps a little more discreetly than me.
