Its coming up to that time of year again yes, halloween and guy fawkes night.Last year we had a heavy police presence in the killay and Dunvant areas. And it proved to be a great success. Obviously there were incidents that we had to attend but they were limited compared to previous years.

This year we will again see high visible police patrols in the above areas. And also the police have now been given extra powers regarding the use of fireworks. "Any persons found letting off fireworks in public places will face an on the spot fine of £80.00"

we will be visiting local schools and advising the children of the dangers of the use of fireworks. And also explain to them the zero tolerence police actions they will face if they decide not to take our advice regarding the use of fireworks in public places. There will be many organised firework displays in the swansea area .

We are not out to spoil anyones fun. But there have been some severe injuries and fatalities caused by the misuse of fireworks and that is our main concern .

If any one has any concerns regarding the above please use the forum or contact us at mumbles police station. Please enjoy the forth coming events and be safe.

Thanx. As these dates approach I, like many others, dread the run up. My dogs and cat become nervous wrecks at the sound of the first fireworks (on any date before the official one) We also have to be on guard for those little horrors who think its great fun to waste eggs & flour!

I must admit tho that last year was much quieter than previously experienced - so keep up the good work!

thanks for your reply Cyfrin. As stated on previous messages please keep us informed regarding any community issues. This website is a very useful tool and we would like to see more residents of the killay and dunvant areas using it.
