The character of George was introduced as Christey's
replacement. At the time of filming the last ep, no-one
knew whether the show was going to be renewed or not, hence
they kept their options open.
Funding was the main reason for the show's demise - several
countries had dropped Rats from their schedules, making it hard to justify the expense with minimal projected returns.
