Subject: Lauren- South Asia Stat Questions
In reply to: Mr. Moore 's message, "South Asia Stats Questions" on 07:56:40 01/30/04 Fri

1. In what areas of development is the South Asia
strong?
South Asia has a high life expectancy, and they have a high Public Education Expenditure. They have a high population under 15, they have a high pop. using adequate sanitation, and adult literacy rate.

2. Excluding the US, are there any glaring desparities
(big differences) between countries of the South Asia?
THe biggest difference in information between the countries is the HDI ranking. Most of them are reletively lower, but the US and Panama have higher rankings.

3. Give an overall assessment of how South Asia
appears to be doing in these areas of development.
South Asia isn't doing horribly bad in these areas of development, but they aren't doing exceptionally well either. South Asia is doing adequately. Thy are about average in the areas of development.

4. Pick two stats and compare and contrast how South
Asia is doing compared to the Middle East.
In the Middle EAst, the seats in parliment held by women are varied. Some have a high %, some are on the lower % side. In South Asia, the seats in parliment held by women is about the same throughout the countries. In the Middle East, the population under 15 is very spread out. In South Asia the population under 15 is closer together.
