In reply to: Mr. Moore 's message, "South Asia Stats Questions" on 07:56:40 01/30/04 Fri

1. In what areas of development is the South Asia
strong?
AnSwEr-Pakistan, India and Nepal all have more seats in parliament held by women. Pakistan is the leading country with the highest literacy rate, seats in parliament held by women, and population using adequate sanitation.

2. Excluding the US, are there any glaring desparities
(big differences) between countries of the South Asia?
AnSwEr-Pakistan has higher public education expenditure (% of gov.) than Nepal and India. Pakistan also has a higher population using adequate sanitation than Nepal or India.

3. Give an overall assessment of how South Asia
appears to be doing in these areas of development.
AnSwEr-South Asia is doing rather well in all of its areas. All of it is positive except India's HDI Ranking.

4. Pick two stats and compare and contrast how South
Asia is doing compared to the Middle East.
AnSwEr- In South Asia, the population using adequate sanitation is lower compared to the Middle East. The growth population is higher in the Middle East than in South Asia.
