Bird flu epidemic spreads to Pakistan as death toll rises to seven: Jan 27th
The epidemic bird flu has spread to Pakistan. More than a million chickens in the port city of Karachi which is the biggest city in Pakistan have died from getting it. People can only get infected by the virus through contact with birds that have it. The World Health Organisation said “efforts to find a vaccine were being frustrated by the historically unprecedented rate at which the virus was spreading and mutating.” The people in Pakistan do not know how this virus is spreading so fast and how it has been spreading. Scientists are worrying that it could mutate into a form that is able to pass between people, and if that is true it could trigger the next human flu pandemic.

Pakistan scientists to face nuclear charges

Pakistan made its clearest public statement yesterday. The employees of a secretive nuclear weapons laboratory in Pakistan sold technology to Iran. Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, said: "One or two people acted in an irresponsible manner for personal profit. Money is involved in the matter. I am not naming any scientist."

Two nuclear scientists used a network of middlemen operating a black market to supply nuclear weapons to Iran and Libya. Abdul Qadeer Khan is considered the father of Pakistan’s Nuclear bombs.
