Social Security

Okay, I am aging and not well. There appears to be a minor fringe benefit on the horizon: Social Security. I have read their info and am a bit perplexed. Two questions arise and perhaps someone has answers.

1). Is a person better off drawing at 62 or waiting until some later age. Having led a somewhat violent life I am leaning toward the former but without conviction.

2). If one continues working and drawing income does that earning cause a decrease in SS benefits? I have heard that it does, that it does only at a lower age, and that it does not.

So, retirement dreams spin about and it seems they would become real with income.
