Dark face of the rider looks back at his pursuer. A whip of iron appeared in his left hand. He struck his mount. The beast seemed to scream but the spell of silence was still around them. Even the sun hid her face in dark clouds. Suddenly the rider pulls the chains back sharply, pulling back the black lionlike head of the beast. The demon horse reared, snapped his jaws, and then broke through into another dimension. In less time it takes one to blink an eye, the beast and rider were gone. Vanished without a trace. Sound was no longer muted. Wicked laughter rang out into the winds.
