Barbados Repeats Hold On Miss Easterval 2012 Title

Jermilia Joseph (left) took the 2nd spot and new comer, Miss Venezuela
Genesis Valera rounding up the top three.

by Dayle DaSilva

The Miss Easterval title returned to Barbados last
weekend, after 18-year-old Zhane Padiore was crowned this year’s
Easterval Queen last Saturday at the hard court in Ashton, Union Island.

Padiore came out on top from a field of seven young
ladies, beating Carriacou’s Jermilia Joseph into the second position and
Venezuela’s Genesis Valera, third, in that country’s debut in the
competition.

It was a good all round performance, considering it was only Padiore’s second outing in pageantry.

The young Barbadian lass also walked away the winner in a
number of individual categories including Best Talent, Best Evening
Wear, Best Interview and Miss Photogenic.

Joseph, Miss Carriacou, also won the Best Introduction category to add to her second spot finish of the night.

The Union Island supporters may have been disappointed
with their own Molika Mulzac, one of the favourites of the night, who
after strong performances in the introduction, swim wear and talent
segments, performed poorly in the interview segment.

So, too, the supporters of Ariel Roberts, Miss Grenada,
who despite a valiant effort, made an appearance in the evening wear
category, but was unable to finish the show after she had to be taken to
the hospital with an acute case of food poisoning.

Nevertheless, she was adjudged Miss Congeniality.

Adriana Carolina, Miss Margarita, and Genesis Valera, Miss
Venezuela, gave good accounts of themselves in their first outing at
the pageant, with Venezuela taking the Best Swimwear award to add to her
third place finish.

Daneil Soleyn, Miss St. Vincent, did her supporters from
the mainland proud with a good all round performance, but had to walk
away empty handed.

SEARCHLIGHT later caught up with Padiore, who said that
she was pleased with her performance of the night, particularly as she
was able to overcome nerves and do well enough in the interview segment
of the show.

“When I saw the pictures on Facebook, I thought wow, I am going to have a lot of competition,” Padiore said.

“But I was able to overcome that and think about me only and no one else and that is what helped me.”

“I can’t even express how I feel right now — I’m so excited,” she continued.

She admitted that there was some pressure to bring the
crown back to Barbados saying “from the time I got to the airport,
everybody was like ‘Make sure bring back that crown’.”

And working with last year’s winner, Padiore said that she needed to make sure that she represented herself well.

Despite that pressure, she said that she tried her best to remain committed to the task.

She described her training, which began about two months prior to the competition, as rigorous.

Now that she has successfully defended the crown, Padiore,
a final year A-level student, said that she will now be able to use her
experience from this pageant, particularly the interview, which she
says has helped her to overcome her fears and become a more confident
public speaker.

Last year’s winner and former schoolmate of Padiore,
Jamilah Forde, said that she was proud of her successor’s performance
this year.

“She worked hard, she is smart and beautiful, and I think
she really deserved it. She is a beautiful Bajan queen,” Forde said.
(SEARCHLIGHT)

Miss Venezuela "Genesis Valera" 2nd runner up

This year’s competition was particularly sticky, but this did not deter Miss Barbados, Zhane Padmore, a crowd favourite, from coming out ahead of participants from Miss Venezuela, Miss BVI, Miss Carriacou, Miss Union Island, Miss Grenada, St Vincent and Miss Margarita Island. Jermilia Joseph of Carriacou was adjudged the 1st runner up and Genesis Valera of Venezuela, 2nd runner up.

Other Easterval Festivities

The festivities in Union Island were particularly grand this year, seeing many “mainlanders” making the journey to take part in the Easter festivities.

Aside from Miss Easterval, patrons were able to enjoy a Cultural Explosion on Thursday, April 5th, Sunday held “wet fete”, and J’Ouvert as well as a Soca Fest featuring reigning Soca Monarch Fireman Hooper, Skinny Fabulous and Lil Rick out of Barbados.

It seems that all present thoroughly enjoyed Easterval 2012 in Union Island and look forward to a bigger and better Easterval in 2013.

Mary Andrew -- Mary Andrew (Greetings), 01:44:20 04/13/10 Tue [2]

Calvary Greetings From Mary Andrew,

Though its a sad and long story but I will cut it short for your quick and easy understanding. I am Mrs Mary Andrew, widow to Late Mr. Peter Andrew , My husband was murdered by those who are envious of his position in his office and he made a vow before his death which made me to contact you for this orphanage project.

Before his death he made a vow to use his wealth for the down trodden, orphanages and the less privileged in the society. Having known my condition I decided to donate this fund to an individual or better still a God fearing person who will utilize this money the way I am going to instruct here in. The funds was deposited overseas and i want an individual that will use this fund and provide succor to poor and indigent persons, orphanages, and widows and for the propagating peace.

I took this decision because I do not have any child that will inherit this money and my husband relatives are not inclined to helping poor persons and I do not want my husband's hard earned money to be misused or spent in the manner in which my late husband did not specify. I do not want a situation where this money will be used in an ungodly manner. What is required of you is your honesty, trust and sincerity. Kindly reply me through this email(mrsmary_andrew@hotmail.fr) as any delay in your reply will give me room in sourcing for another individual for this same purpose.

Yours sister,
Mrs Mary Andrew.

I. INTRODUCTION

What is World Beauty Festival Queen?

The WORLD BEAUTY FESTIVAL prides itself on being the newest international beauty pageant that not only focuses on beauty, talent, and fitness, but also on global culture, art and tradition. The pageant is organized by PHILIPPINE WORLD BEAUTY FESTIVAL INC.

THE PWBF Inc. is an organization duly registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of Trade and Industry, the Intellecual Property Office, and the International Organization for Standardization. The concept of producing an international beauty pageant that highlights not only beauty, intelligence and poise but also different cultural festivals around the world. Thus, the World Beauty Festival was born, an annual beauty search for a woman with a unique blend of beauty, talent, respect for culture and a strong ability to foster contacts between professionals and practitioners in the cultural sector through networks, cultural exchanges and capacity building programs. The winner of this title will support dialogue and regular exchanges between information and communication technology experts and governmental and non-governmental actors of the cultural sectors.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) defines culture as a set of distinctive spiritual, material, intellectual and emotional features of a society in addition to art and literature, lifestyle, ways of living together, value systems and traditions. In other words, culture is the pursuit of all matters that most concerns humankind, a culture of peace. Various forms of learning are necessary but not sufficient condition for a culture of peace. It is through understanding and mutual appreciation among individuals, groups and nations that stand at the heart of any program for peace building. The decade 2001 to 2010 has been declared the United Nation’s International Decade for Culture and Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World.

As Ambassadress of Beauty with a Purpose, the winner uses her title to help build peace in the minds of everyone and around which people can mobilize for the common good. Specifically, World Beauty Festival’s goals include encouraging bilateral and multilateral cooperation among the young people; support and implement plans and programs in relation to education for a culture of peace; promote networks for peace, human rights, democracy and non-violence in the domains of the environment, gender equality and social integration.

World Beauty Festival is not only a beauty pageant search and presentation of the most beautiful and brightest young women around the world, but also serves to showcase a variety of festivals and diversity of culture from different countries. Truly, the delegates are beyond a dazzling combination of beauty, grace, poise, and intelligence that represents a new breed of future leaders.

The Philippines is one of the many tropical places in the world that has a lot to offer when it comes to natural tourist destinations. It is divided into three island groups namely Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao . Each island group gives diversity when it comes to tourist destinations. Luzon , being the largest division, has numerous tourist attractions that are truly world-class. This includes historical sites, dramatic sceneries of various landscapes and of course, the exceptional beaches. The smallest active volcano in the world Taal Volcano in Batangas; the volcano with the most perfect cone, Mt. Mayon in Legazpi, Albay; the unique land formation that is the Chocolate Hills in Bohol. Marvel at the endemic Philippine fauna: Tamaraw, Tarsier, Philippine Eagle, and a lot more!

The journey begins. Welcome to the unique and newest beauty pageant for ladies showing tenderness, benevolence, friendship, beauty, intelligence, ability to take action, and, most importantly, a great international sensibility!
