yess.. it was a wonderful night... I think it was the biggest xmas 'reunion' dinner. Wonder if next time Chi NY dinner the juniors will still invite us?? hmm . it'll be nice to turn up in force. heh
thanks to everyone.. esp jianwen and her santa toys, zhiyang and his Absolut, david and the yummilicious chicken wings...they brought stuff but got no presents. u love u guys anyway!

after all the discourse, here's a conclusion (min, hui, shir, david, jianhao, adrian and mingjie has already concurred) .... Christmas potluck dinner at my place. I will try to pack up and make things as neat as possible... hui will bring the appropriate Xmas music.
here's the potluck list so far:
shir: pasta (with extra onions n mushrooms n herbs by request of lesley tan!)
hui: baking ... something... chicken? roast?

phew...finally made it back here..looks like i've kinda lost track of what's been happening over here..
it's been a turbulent semester for me and i've been moving around so i haven't been able to come online to leave a message. Nice to see that all of you are happy and doing well...It has been quite nerve wrecking since september 11 though new yorkers have been quite strong and united. Hello!!.. anyone wanna go outdoor painting this weekend?.. We can go Chinese Garden liao./... it is now FREE..... heh. Remember some of us tried to go the last time but it wld have cost us $4.50 each? and we ended up sitting across the river... i rem suyi and yasmine painted real fast cos it was all bush/trees/plants.
Recently i was criticized by someone for not knowing how to paint trees. So now must learn!!!

I think the idea of doing a mural for charity is just brilliant! but it'll be quite something to go organize it. It'll be so fun all of us getting to work together again.. heh

for christmas.. hmm... yea. just go out for dinner will be fine considering how many people are busy??... or maybe can go for dinner and then spend a night out under the stars talking... in ECP or pulau ubin.. whatever!!
i'll be busy from travelling.. so will be quite beat i guess, in Dec...

how nice if we own a resort by the sea.... in a exotic island... and every christmas... all of us will go there. a picture of our backs against the rainbow-colour lit background. lesley at the extreme right lying on huishi's shoulder..... isn't it beautiful. ha

it is after months eversince i last came here.... my apology of neglecting this board for I been really busy with project...haha I think exam is better than the 12 module project....(ops better stop complaining) ..I gor glance over all the messages ..... so far so good......haha evryone seem to be doing well!!! hmmm les I am interested in Charity works too guess I can do it after the exam( maybe only during holidays)...sigh...okie Christmas..... I was saving for Australia initially but now I decide to use the money and get a digital cam guess
maybe next year.....hahah nm I can use the digital cam to capture the coming moments when we all going to get together ....

hmmm.. the msg board seems to be the most active during exam period..
yap mi enjoying my holiday rite now... : =)as usual time pass really fast during holidaes and i really trying to make the best out of it...currently painting my room...as in doing a mural like stuff...and i finally decide to take up violin!!have been thinking of it since after "A"s...lesson start next monday!!!looking very forward to it...
as for christmas...yeee...anything homely will do...i actually miss the time when we prepare the dinner together...but guess thats a lot of work..and i will be on attachment for the whole of december...so expect myself to be pretty tired at the end of it..withs report and presentation to finish off before my attachment ends.jap food is fine...and wat abt some liitle restaurants along singapore river...hahah..i dun know of any but thought it will be nice if we can eat in some cosy little place and after we finish, we can stroll along the river..chit chat..count rats...hhaha and maybe take the boat ride if we feel rich enough...hahhaa.. :=)
or maybe we can go watch a concert??if theres any..
or to make it more meaningful...we go do charity work...paint a mural or something...

hi all. christmas? seems like so far away... sure.. i think keeping our tradition will be great. it's only on such special occasions that we get to see everybody. and we shall go quieter, nicer place this time round. how about jap food? mmm... we have never tried that before. or maybe go east coast to eat seafood.. then stay there and count the stars. =) or les's place will be great too!

hi all... had a chat with our dear lynn just a few nights ago. She was busy packing to leave new york to.. staten island i suppose. Must be the white powder and stuff. She mentioned abt coming back for christmas. R we planning anything this time round? it will be our fourth yr liao... everyone keep this at the back of ya mind okie.. anyway i still prefer a more homely christmas celebration than one in hard rock.

hey for those overseas...
PAP's got 82 out of the 84 seat in Parliament!!

i think it's really great that we get to witness the elections this year... Has extra significance for me cos i get to study constitutional law this year - makes me realize how precious our rights are and all the crap tt's hanging on the edge of the balance...

.... wonder when i'll get to exercise my vote. Hmm. do u think that since there are walkovers (no contest) - that ourgovernment actually does not have true mandate???
democracy. right.

.... exams!! it's just a small thing i have come to think. when i am 50 it's not one of the things i will remember. ..

.... feeling noisy today so excuse me. anyway CONGRATS yanling for making it for YDa again!! proud of you.. =)

hi all!

it's so great to see the board so happening again! it's been ages since so many ppl posted consecutively. yes... it's a period of pain again... maybe different from les's "churn-out-4000-word-essay" pain (yucks!) but it's the "try-to-know-what-you have-been-studying-for-the-past-hour" pain. *sigh* su... on holiday already... lucky! we haven't even started here in nus. gosh. everyone's on holiday liao.

yas>> you saw me on 151? when was it? the bus is always so crowded... kinda hard to call out to anyone unless we are just in front of each other. =p

just met up with ling and jianhao yesterday. our miss ling got in YDA (sounds familiar?) again... pei fu pei fu. all these years... =) i was really impressed by the flash thingy she did for her website for NHB, knowing how hard it is to do flash. she said she learnt it in arki. how great to learn stuff like this in sch. anyway.. nj didn't win anything this yr except this ex-ny gal who submitted her o'level proj. hmm...

Hi guyz,

a thousand apologies for not writing any earlier...i just realized that the last time i contributed to this board was in May...

Life here is better than the first cuz i'm a lot more streetwise, i get my own bedroom and i've made new friends from work, school and hall.. i'm going to denmark for a well-deserved (maybe not) holiday for 3 days next week. trying to get down to work as usual..but it isn't really happening...just been fooling around with my neighbours and wasting time and playing pool.

yasmine, of course I remember jakrapaun! ('cept how to spell his name) ... sent me weeping on the plane eventually..that was so silly...you mean you still keep in touch with him? when i went back to singapore in the summer..my dad passed me some of the old cards i used to keep in one of his drawers..and they were all cards from ppl from nature hug...there was also a letter from Don, the filipino guy...and that just got me thinking 'bout the old days...how's the thai bloke anyway? send that monkey my regards..and tell him that i would love to see his works and inform me of his website if he's one.

how's everyone? i willl not be getting icq till at least a month later and i would hardly be online cuz it's freaking expensive to go online in the uk...

... trying everything to distract myself from this pain.. well, not physical pain - but feels terrible. Having to churn out 4000 words that requires me to exercise my intellectual faculties!!!!.. its true - i think i've always been an essay-producing machine-- just need to know a teensy bit of facts and crap out a whole loada associated nonsense... tutors seem to like it. (yes, especially Mr Tay)

to all NUS aepians... if u guys ever think about doing volunteer work, check out www.nussu.org/~nvac/
anyway they've this programme where you can go help out in NUH once a week.. play with kids, do arts and craft, feed the elderly, tutor long term patients etc.
... wed 2-4 pm or fri 1.15-3.15 pm. i would love to go for it except both slots clash with my timetable.

maybe some of you will consider it. =) can check out cute doctors too? heh heh.

hello... thanks jianhao... for the erm.. helpful information. In my crescent days, all us girls were made to watch this really .. direct instructional video in the school hall.. so i guess i know how it works.

... i wanna do some volunteer work but duno where to go about it.. CACs in school has a club for it.. there's this new NUH program i think they help the patients. But they havent replied to my email inquiries. anyone any info?

For the ladies, i manage to find an article....think i have heard enough stories of young ladies like you all getting breast cancer liao.. do take a look

Breast Cancer - Ninety percent of the breast lumps are felt by the women themselves. Thus, it is important for women to understand and practise BSE (breast self- examination)

There are serveral factors that contribute to breast cancer
a) Family history of breast cancer
b) Age over 35
c) Early (under 12) menarche- start of period
d) late Mennopause (after age 50)
e) Childless or first child after 30
f) Benign breast disease
g) A diet high in animal fats

Symptons of breast cancer- changes in the breast are often the first indication that breast cancer may be present. These includes:
a) a lump in the breast that persists
b) Bleeding or discarge from the nipple
c) a change in the shape of breast
d) A puckering or dimpling of the skin of the breast
e) A new retraction (pulling in) of the nipple

When to do BSE (breast self- examination)
- once a month about one week after your period ends. the breast are the softest after menstruation when hormone level are low
- if u are menopausal, fix a day every month
- best to do it every fortnightly

i shall not touch on the treatment of breast cancer... quite complex... i will try to find more info on BSE

Yup, back in new york. Everything's good I guess. It's still alil' warm but the trees are already turning brown. i'm very busy this semester..tonnes of project work.but pretty fun .i have this project that i'm suppose to choose one media and investigate its therapeutic potential. and i actually choose to do installation art.so i actually set up this interactive installation art in a garden in woodlands. and i do all my development and stuff.hahhaa.fun!
and we have another module called behaviour modification and we have to implement this self modification program. and my goal is to increase the amt of time i spent painting.. : P havent really start implementing..but will tell u all more abt it if i'm successful

this committee is the hardest one that i have ever work with and our teacher isnt much of a help either..sign..yue..u would know what i mean...anyway..wat can i do jus try my beest lor...
and jus yesterday we found out that 3 painting in the catalogue that we've printed are copied directly out from another catologue by some famous artist...and becos' of all the copy right stuff..the dunno what new law...(hahah maybe les u can enlightened us)...we cannot sell the 1000 copies that we have printed nor even circulate it ard in the public...it cos ard $2000 plus...and we have no more money to reprint...hiaz....what a waste...

bbq sounds good to me. but i most prob won't be in singapore during my birthday period... going for a short getaway with zhiyang! =) any recommendations anyone? any cheap resorts near to singapore?

if we want bbq... we gotta book now. otherwise we might not be able to get any pits at all! east coast is fine with me. havgen't been to the dirty beach in a while. seems like it's very hard to have discussions on the board coz seldom does ppl come here leh... (err... seems like i'm a quiet onlooker as well =p)

a little update on what i have been doing recently.

been giving tuition to my neighbour's kid.. haha she wanted tuition every single day!!! (can u believe tt??)

the MAIN CONDITION is that all photographs must be taken on MAY 12TH 2001

the theme proposes to "freeze time" upon one day in the life of the city state...
yah.. that's all the explanation given...
all photos must be 8R size.... 20cm by 25.2cm.. no mounting is needed...

hmm.. the CLOSING DATE is 1ST JUNE by 12 noon...

grand prize is a one week trip to PARIS!!!!!!!!!!!

... i feel wrecked. First time since A levels that i'm goin to have to sit down and write continuously for 3 hrs. Ever since I got my laptop and bring it for lectures daily, I havnt even been writing much at all. Feel like I'm gonna have to jump a hurdle come monday.

is anyone having fun? I've had somebody tell me that thsi period of 'study break' is the best tim cos u get to just chill,read and eat at the same time. (erm?!)

law library's really scary these days full of people cramming. I keep out of the way by going to this nice homely cafe in Ginza Plaza.. eat a lot everyday.. like one munch for every sentence.. hahaa

....... guess i'm bored.

hi all.

at this point in time, i guess all the nus undergrads are busy mugging for their exams. and the architects with the incessant projects can take a break... and do some writing. =p no lah.. that was not meant to be sarcastic or sth, but i'm glad that u all finally get a break from the projects. hmmm.. stillsounds sarcastic.. nvm. i give up. *wonders if u all understand wat i'm trying to say*

busy with exam preparation, everyone?? i knw dear shirley is busy with her newsletter... how is everyone? hvtn heard new msges in some time.

.... came back fm tokyo abt 3 nites ago... had tonnes of fun and i m already longing to fly back!!... weird incident. surreal experience. on the trip back, i chatted for a real long time to this Jap businessman who told me about his wife, son and daughter.. this guy in the water treatment business. Invited me to his place in Yokohama., cant believe it...

........ traveltravel. wish i had more time and money. anyone got extra to spare??

met miss yeo yesterday juz in time for this update.. the yr 2s had juz finished doing drawing and they are doing design after this week's sch break. so how? they are having a drawing test on 21th march but i dun think we can make it coz nus people having preparation for exams right? and i dun think its very good for us to disturb them during their test too. hmm.. but come to think of it, its also good that they are doing design.. so we can draw while they do design! hehehe.. otherwise tooo crowded right?
and oh yah! she also asked me whether we are interested in doing murals for children home or not! coz she said a certain children's society or home [dunno what also] approached art club to do murals for their compound. but the problem is they have a few locations and art club couldn't possibly do a mural for every single one, so ms yeo was asking whether we are interested or not.. i m for it lah, but i dunno about the rest of u. so i told her i'll post her suggestion up and see what we feel and get back to her. SO HOW PEOPLE? i also dunno. i think i tok to much. hehehe!

wow..looks like i missed alot ...hmm...my first msg on this new msgboard...well...it's not too bad..a fresh change..
ermm...just had my spring break...Boston was in the state of emergency (over nothing haha..) we were supposed to have 2 serious snowstorms and they actually suspended schl for 2 days, everywhere was closed ....it didn't turn out as bad since i was in the city...BUT it kept me all cozy n snugged in though..got all the sleep i need!
hmm...2 more weeks to yilin's arrival.

hey.... david came up with this idea of all of us going back on one of the thursdays after our exams to go back to nj and draw. su... ur hols start in may as well right? go back as one big group.. and draw together iwth the yr2s. -grin-
will be tons of fun~~~!!!! and we will get to be together once more in the art room!!! miss the art room and those days a lot... will prob never get to experience those "family feelings" again. sigh.

our hols will start right after our exams... which is end April for most, i guess... unless there are some lucky pigs out there. =p
